Some Good News.

1. Mum and Dad are coming for a visit! They'll be coming here in mid-August. They are over the moon, of course. They've never been to the United States. Of course, there are all kinds of things they want to experience. Mum wants to do the New York City thing, so we'll probably take a long weekend there. Dad is keen to do some hiking and other outdoorsy things, so I'm thinking some time in the Adirondacks of upstate New York. They both want to see Philadelphia for whatever reason. I think Philly cheese steak sandwiches are overrated. Mind you, most of you left-pondians probably feel the same way about haggis and black puddings. Anyway - suggestions for excursions and day trips are more than welcome.

2. Lately, I've been in a situation that's made me reflect a lot about mortality and life. Wish I could get more specific. It has definitely had me reflecting about morals, ethics, and laws, and how sometimes in order to fulfill one set of ethics we wind up breaking a law. What comes first? For me, I think, it's my commitment to medicine. The Declaration of Geneva says it all, I think. And that's enough time on the soapbox. Any more and I'm going to sound like a Guardian reader.

3. Arsenal wins the FA cup. *sigh* In other news, the Beautiful Game is turning out to be rotten to the core. I'm not referring to players, but to FIFA. To call them corroded is an insult to rust.

4. Toby is being such a love. He's also shedding like crazy. I've threatened to knit him a brother.

And that's all for now.
