Recombinant DNA can be used to insert a specific gene of choice into the plasmid of a bacterium by the use of restriction enzymes. Restriction enzymes cut out certain parts of a DNA sequence by palindromic patterns, leaving behind sticky ends. This method can be used to cut open the plasmid to leave sticky ends and also to selectively cut out genes to be inserted. Recombinant bacteria could be identified by the use of antibiotics. At the same times as the required gene is inserted the gene for resistance to a specific antibiotic could be inserted. Bacteria which could survive in culture in agar plates...

Dear digital world,
Next time you want to mess with my academic career and standing please don't do it during an exam! Especially the entrance exam! Oh man I am totally screwed now!
