First post of the year

OK, OK, I'm very late in wishing ya'll a happy new year.

That's because it's been, well, a busy year. Not necessarily in a good way, either.

Alex's dad had a cancerous kidney removed. He's in good shape now, out of rehab, back in his place, but she headed down to Maryland on the 3rd, for about a week and a half.

In the meantime, I had a show up in the Boston area, which went quite well.

My Uncle Nate, my father's brother-in-law died, after suffering his second stroke. We went out to Allentown to visit with family. Couldn't go out for the funeral since it was first week of school. Last semester I had enough problems keeping up for a bit after missing two weeks because of the heart attack; didn't want to start the semester at a deficit.

A friend called collect the other night from a "correctional facility." I love these euphemisms. On the one hand, it's nothing serious (ie, no murder or robbery); on the other hand, any time that you're in lockup, it's serious. So I'm dealing with that, at a distance.

First couple of weeks of school have been good. It's going to be a challenging semester, lots of work, lots of reading, lots of Hebrew text study (which is fun, even when it's frustrating).

Working on lining up shows for the spring and summer. Slow going, so far, but a friend in the Finger Lakes is going to be helping me with some emails and phone calls. Since I"m in school during business hours, that will be a great help.

So I'm feeling a bit scattered and when that happens I tend not to hang out on LJ much. I do plan to be here more often this year though. Honest.

Oh...one more thing...majormagik is planning a big announcement in a week or so. Stay tuned.
