A typically great cover by Frank R Paul, this one from SCIENCE FICTION PLUS, December 1953. This was getting near the end of the line for Paul as far as sci-fi covers went. For thirty years, he was the pulp cover artist for AMAZING STORIES, FANTASTIC ADVENTURES, WONDER STORIES, all that.
As far as I can tell, the larger robot is some sort of Cleaning Device. Judging by the circular brushes near its front fenders, it sweeps the streets. The grille with the three lights on it seems like it can swing down to get a good look at things. (There's quite a bit of rubble strewn about, maybe this is after the Robot Holocaust when Skynet has driven the humans underground.) I'm not sure if the big machine is supposed to be hosing X5882 off or spotwelding a loose plate or maybe even attacking it.
It's the tennis racket X5882 is holding that's the joker. I'm at a loss to explain that.
