Callica - the aftermath (5x08)
For all who didn't watch last night's episode but still want to know what happens after Erica vanished:

Apparently, ABC/Disney didn't like my take on Erica's sudden absence and the way it was handled, so I was forced delete the video. *rolls eyes* No further comment...
Below is the summary of what I had to say about this episode on YouTube:
Callica - 5x08 - Erica is gone
"These Ties That Bind" - the Callica aftermath What a fart... Erica Hahn is gone, but "the wicked witch" (as Cristina called Hahn at the very beginning of the episode) isn't dead after all?? (Cristina was more sympathetic later, when she learnt that Erica had been Callie's "semi/almost/whatever" girlfriend.) Oh yeah, made perfect sense for a professional person like Hahn to leave like that. *Not.* Especially after making it very clear that her heart was invested in that case (no pun intended!) and that she wasn't going to leave the situation at that. On the brighter side: Judging by the many complaints on almost every message board after last night's airing, at least people are beginning to acknowledge the bad writing after all. ...and they can no longer put the blame on Dr. Hahn or "the lesbian thing". Great. ^-^ If you need a good laugh (away from all the anger) on behalf of Erica's last episode, you should definitely check this out: doccovington.net/goodbyehahn
You know, when Derek says, "It's too bad. She was really talented.", I totally couldn't help but think that that was Patrick talking about Brooke Smith. :-) Also, when Cristina runs to Callie and bursts out, "What happened to Hahn? Wh-wh-whatever made Hahn leave, it can be fixed! Uh... *gasp* unless she was fired!? She wasn't fired, was she???", that was our very same reaction, was it not? So that gave me a glimpse on how everyone on set - even Shonda - may feel about Brooke's departure. I take that this whole ordeal was indeed forced upon Shonda and the writers staff. And as surprisingly and sudden as it was forced upon us. With the same sense of grief and frustration.
As for the new intern, Meredith's friend Sadie - she or Mark could become Callie's new love interest, who knows? Now that Callie's officially a "twice-bian", everything's possible! (*Yes*, that was sort of cynical, folks.) As much as I admire Mary McDonnell, no one, NO ONE can replace Dr. Erica Hahn. She was one of a kind, with a unique spark. God, I loved that woman! The new ER doctor, Owen Hunt, has a lot in common with Hahn. But of course, no one complains, because he is a (supposedly) hot MAN, and as such it's okay for him to react overly professional at times, or to b*tch around or get otherwise emotional. -- What a double standard. It makes me sick...
