I Am Hallucinating Atrocities

I obviously have a fever of at least 103º. I haven't checked it, nor do I feel particularly hot, but a high fever would seem to be the only explanation for my hallucination that I just read this article in the Times-Picayune:

SURVIVOR: Chalmette

I know I can't really be reading about how Chalmette has allowed actors "colonists" to move into an ( Read more... )

Must be the fever talking... sheilamarie July 27 2010, 22:57:21 UTC
That article is just, badly written or something. Over sensationalized. My family and a bunch of friends still live in the area and none were remotely bothered by the filming. They did see stacked shipping containers around the building, but other than that, they saw nothing from it. Honestly, the money that was brought into the community by this (estimated around 5 million including hiring local people to work on the filming and such)

Been knowing about this for months. I watched season 1 of "The Colony" and found it interesting. It's not a game show, it's mostly a "what if" type deal where the participants try to figure out how to survive in a post apocalyptic world. I'm actually excited about watching tonight's premier episode. I wonder if I'll see the building my sister once lived in or the ones acquaintances were in. It was filmed earlier this year and there were most definitely no one local who was trying to get in to get food. Especially since the Community Center of St. Bernard (http://www.ccstb.org/) exists to help those who are still struggling (and newly struggling due to BP) is a good thing.

Here's an earlier article about the show http://www.nola.com/tv/index.ssf/2010/03/abandoned_chalmette_apartments.html

Thanks. The article upset me (probably you noticed), but it's good to hear a different perspective from a St. Bernard native. I'll give this some thought.

That's why I had to pipe up about it. I actually don't blame YOU for your reaction, that article ticked me off for an entirely different reason. Almost seems like the writer is jealous that St. Bernard got the pay day and attention instead of the city or something. It seems like the intention was to get people to dislike the show and not watch it.

Also, my editing skills suck. "is a good thing." should have gone at the end of the first paragraph instead of the one I attached it to. Typing WAY to fast for my own good.
