Another day in the streets

I have learned a lot in the last few days. The main thing it to be very thankful for what our family has. I have talked to people from New Orleans and the area and have heard some very heavy hearts because of what the have gone through.

Today I have met people also that flew as far as they could and then found other ways to come in and help. And I'm talking about from way up north. One was a male nurse and the other was a fire fighter. Terrylj and I have always spoken about going places and helping out but never do it. It was really good to see people doing this to help us.

I have thought of taking some pictures to share with you, but I do not feel that it would be right to taking pictures of someone who is down.

At one of the shelters which is where our oldest daughter goes to school, there was a family that I took under my wings. They have four children, including an infant. (I'm a sucker for babies) They were contacted by family members and they are moving to Ohio. When I got there tonight to see them, they were packing to go. This family is going into an unknown and a very long trip. Please keep them in your prayers that they make it safe.

On top of this the president is coming to town on Monday. A part of my job is to provide security for high level security when they come to town. With the amount of people now in the parish, this will make a very large problem to do what needs to be done.

I know these are very short postings but I hate to write. I am very tired right now and about to go to bed. I hope to sit down when this is all over and do a long posting of what we are seeing within our parish. We as a parish have a large challenge ahead of us in dealing with this many people. I will post on the president's visit after it happens.
