doc_nine Brief history of your character (100-200 words):
A Time Lord in his ninth regeneration. Initially after his regeneration he seems to have travelled alone- although it is unclear for how long.
While trying to protect Earth he saves Rose Tyler, when she is attacked in the basement of the department store where she works by Autons, in the form of shop window dummies that are controlled by the Nestene Consciousness. With the Nestene defeated, he invites her to travel with him, after at first refusing, she changes her mind ( leaving behind boyfriend Mickey Smith.)
After travelling back and forth in time together, they end up chasing a dangerous piece of space junk to Earth and get caught up in the London Blitz, where they meet Captain Jack Harkness- an ex-time agent and con man. When his attempts to get rid of an unexploded bomb go wrong, Rose persuades the Doctor to rescue him and the three travel together until the ninth Doctor's regeneration.
Brief synopsis of your character's personality (100-300 words):
The Doctor believes himself to be the only Time Lord to survive the Time War, carrying the guilt of this around with him. The starkness of his choice of clothes (compared to his other incarnations) shows clearly his isolation from what he once was and his struggle to come to terms with survivors guilt.
His chance meeting with Rose Tyler, may well have remind him of the past and his fondness for humans and possibly what causes his sudden invitation, for her to travel with him. It also signals the beginning of a friendship, which lasts even after he is badly injured and regenerates into the tenth Doctor.
Sudden mood swings and erratic behaviour, mean that he can suddenly shift from grinning child to stern adult in the blink of an eye.
A harsh judge of anyone he sees as inflicting pain and suffering on others while demanding mercy for themselves, his response of everything has it's time, everything dies to Cassandra is typical, that coupled with his obvious enjoyment when things get dangerous, suggests that perhaps the threat of dying is not something he views as a bad thing.
His relationship with Jack, shows a willingness to accept a change in someone for the better and trust that it is a genuine one. He clearly distrusted him on their earlier meetings, but as time progressed this disappeared, to be replaced by a mutual friendship and trust.

Blinded by a glaring brightness that seemed to fill the control room of the TARDIS, the Doctor raised his arm in a vain attempt to shield his eyes. Worse still, the added sensation that he was being dragged away from his ship, was frighteningly obvious.
For a moment he thought he could make out the shapes of Jack and Rose as they, like him, attempted to shield their eyes from the dazzling light that surrounded them, but as it intensified it seemed almost as if they were melting into it.
He wasn't sure if it was his ship, sounding the Cloister bell in warning- it's mournful tone being distorted by the beam, or the loud, static- like buzzing and hissing, that enveloped him along with the light, breaking up sounds into a fractured mess so that they made no sense to him. Whatever it was, it filled the room and completed his sense of disorientation.
Then as suddenly as it had arrived-it was gone! Lowering his arm cautiously, he blinked and waited for his eyes to adjust back to what he hoped would be normal light.
The first thing he saw was snow, vast drifts of it, stretching as far as the eye could see! Turning slightly he glanced up, at the dilapidated remains of the building he had found himself standing in front of.
Walking slowly up the steps, he paused, listening for anything that would give a clue as to what was going on. Not so long ago, he would have suspected that the High Council were trying to manipulate his life (yet again), but they were long gone- everyone was long gone.
Just me now, he thought, pushing open the front door- anything to get out of the cold. It didn't usually bother him, but for some reason it did here, he shivered, “Don't usually do that!” He murmured, moving cautiously through the doorway.
The sight that greeted the Doctor was the last thing he had been expecting. Extensive luxury surrounded him. He'd been in some exclusive places in his time, but this! The Lobby was deserted, except for somebody manning the reception desk. As he ambled across the floor, he searched his pockets for the small leather folder that held his psychic paper- when in doubt, look official.
“Hello,” he said, grinning, then waved the folder confidently in the man's direction.
“Welcome to the Hotel California, Doctor.”
The Doctor sighed and pushed the folder back into his pocket without even bothering to check it. Something else on the blink he thought. It looked like it was going to be one of those days!
“I'm not stopping,” he said, watching the room key as it was pushed towards him. When there was no reply he looked up- the man was gone.
Shaking his head, he turned away and moved back towards the door. Reaching out for the handle, his hand suddenly stopped. If he was here, then hopefully so were Rose and Jack.
Retracing his steps, he picked up the key. If they were here somewhere- or even still in transit, then it made more sense to stay (at least until they were all reunited) and then they could work out how to get out of... wherever this was.
