The is 14th novel in the long running Joe Gunther police detective series (a bit of a misnomer since Joe is now Special Agent for the Vermont Bureau of Investigation). In this novel, rather than paying attention to Joe, most of the plot focuses on one his VBI detectives, Sammy, working undercover to infiltrate a drug pusher's organization. Sammy's code-name is 'Gatekeeper', hence the title of the book.
Another very enjoyable read in this very durable series.
