A space opera that is actually an opera. (This is tough to Google, because of the prevalence of the term "space opera".)
I mean, let's avoid the easy out: an opera set on the ISS (also, it would be tough to do the weightlessness). I also pass on doing The Right Stuff as an opera.
I think something like The Left Hand of Darkness or The Dispossessed might make a fine opera; I know they put on a version of The Handmaid's Tale-I heard Margaret Atwood mention it a couple of years ago.
Now, imagine Merry Wives of Windsor done with pheromones on an O'Neill colony.... Might be an interesting vehicle for commenting on sexual relations. Goes in different ways than the play or the opera Falstaff.
