Katie was puffing and gasping for breath, her cheeks red with exertion as she tried to rearrange the furniture in her quarters. There was no reason except for she was lonely and pissed off and wanting to do something to take her mind off the fact that no-one had remembered her birthday.
The datastream from Earth wasn't due for another few days so maybe someone would send her a message in that. Didn't explain why no-one here had remembered, she fumed. She'd been friends with Davey for years, although he'd been caught up lately, wasn't really his fault.
And she had no right to be mad at Laura. They hadn't been together through any birthdays yet. Still, it wasn't that hard. She knew hers. Had put it in her calender even. Ok so fine it's not actually that important, but it's just nice to have a day where you're appreciated and fussed over. Isn't that what girlfriends were for?
Shaking her head of the depressing thoughts, she went back to attempting to move the bed to the opposite side.
