Back to School and other stuff

Aug 21, 2007 08:03

Well school started last week. Yah.
I think I have blogged about that. Oh well. It is nice having the days to do what I want to do. Well kinda.
Usually hubbie will call mid morning to give me a list of things he wants me to do during the day. Aaaaa wait dear heart. I am grown I don't need you to give me chore list. Usually it is stuff like check bank account, pay bills and stuff like that. I have that handled. I have a schedule that I have made up a long time ago. I have contact with the utilities companies. Most I am on first name basis. LOL
My dad was like that. He had a wonderful ability to make friends anywhere that he went.
Now I am following in my fathers footsteps. It used to drive my mother nuts.
These pretty young ladies would see my father, run and hug him.
Mom would say rather snotty, who was that? Dad would answer "Oh that is the little girl from the water company".
In the last years of his life, about the last 15 to 20 years Dad went blind.
So being the good daughter I am. Hee Hee
I would go and get Dad and we would go pay bills. He did not like to use automatic withdrawl because then he would miss those sweet little girls he called them. They really did make a fuss over him. Same with the bank. He used the same bank that he had used from way back in his youth. So he knew everybody. He had his favorites. When he went blind,
one of the employees would meet us at the door. And then they would take Daddy away to do his business. He never had to stand in line, because they just treated him like family. LOL Oh my Dad.
I think I am turning into Dad. LOL
I am on first name basis with all the ladies at the power company. Isn't that a sight!
And they will see me outside of the office, and say hello and ask about my family.
Course that comes from living in a small town. One more reason I like living where I do.
No we don't have malls, Appleby's is the biggest chain resturant in town.
We don't have a Wendy's here but we have a Arby's. Walmart and United grocery stores are the only grocery stores in town. Of course us Air Force types can use the commissary. And I usually shop there, because of the prices, tax free, and the meat is to die for.
That aside, I love living in a small town. I like knowing all the kids in the neighborhood. Because my daugther goes to school with them. And I being a responsible parent make it a mission in life to know about the kids she hangs around with.
Well that is all my empty head can come up with today.
LOL
Love
Janet
