I was expecting to hit this roadblock so early.

Ive been told by almost everyone I know in the touring and theatre industry, more-so touring, that tech is a boys game. That as a woman, like every profession, I will have to work harder than the boys to be taken seriously, but unlike every other profession, I will have to work four times as hard instead of two.

So every night I sit in the back of the theatre, waiting "just in case" something happens to someone's mics, while my male counterpart learns how to do cues and front of house work straight from Zac. And the only job I have, micing the actors and putting the sets away at the end of the night, he shares with me.

So irritating.

Plus this bitchy ASM (assistant stage manager) has it out for me, and I swear one of these days i'll punch her in her ugly little face out of frustration for the fact that I can't talk, eat or use my phone backstage so i'm essentially doing nothing, waiting for someone to piss me off.

the drowsy chaperone, theatre, fuck this shit
