I got a new puppy! I have decided to call him Jaxon, Jax for short. He's a Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix and will be about 6-7 pounds when fully grown. He is black with a white cape (white belly and collar) and currently weighs in at a whopping 2 pounds. I pick him up from the breeder tomorrow and he's coming with us across the country! I'm not sure how Tegan will handle having a baby brother - she does get quite jealous of her feline sisters - but I'm willing to give it a test because I think the companionship could be good for her. I think Jax will take easily to Tegan since she looks so much like his Rat Terrier mother. Am I crazy?! Had to postpone Tegan's surgery since she went into heat last week - grr! I just hope they don't bark the whole way. Leaving at night should prompt them both to sleep, so I am banking on the possibility they will sleep the whole way through Kansas.
Grandpa is slowly declining and Mom is furious with the uncle that recently moved into my grandparent's house to "help." I guess he's an obsessive packrat and has totally trashed their house, which is causing my elderly grandparents much unnecessary stress. My mission is to help him unpack and clean up while my other uncle and Mom decide if they should look into assisted living situations. *sigh* I hate watching people decline due to age or health reasons. It's so hard and I love my grandpa so much!
Rubber band balls are GREAT! I made one a couple of weeks ago while I was talking to the guys in the copy center, and I have one at home that I use in the kitchen all of the time. I think they're wonderful and what a conversation starter! :) There is one sitting on my desk as a matter of fact; a myriad of stretchy colors begging to be bounced.
Bonuses were FINALLY paid out after a whole year of waiting! We were on quarterly bonuses until December 2004, when they switched. December bonuses paid out in Feb, 2005 and that's the last bonus we saw until yesterday. Now I can breathe a bit easier and truly enjoy my vacation because after that it's all about attorneys and bankruptcy court. *sigh* The time has finally come for me to make a serious decision regarding my house. Do I sell? Do I get a roommate? Do I rent the whole thing? Do I let the bank foreclose and include it in the bankruptcy? Do I stay there status quo? All I know is that this is one of the most difficult decisions of my life and I have to make it by the end of this month. I really don't want to move, and where the hell am I gonna go that will let me have all of my pets?! But that's a rickety bridge for another day. It's just weighing heavily on my mind until then.
Wish me good weather and no construction (ha ha) as I journey across the mid-west!
