Words of advice I gave to my Marines

Hey Marines, I have something to tell you guys.  You know how when you hear rumors they're usually inconsistent?  Well, we've been hearing the same rumors over and over so there must be some legitimacy to what I'm hearing.  So here's the truth; Marines are dying out there.  The enemy has found a way to penetrate the armor on our trucks and they are killing Marines and they're damn good at it.  Here's a little background on the enemy so you can understand who we're fighting.  Back in the 1970's, the Russians were fighting the afghans and were forced out after losing 40,000 troops.  Keep in mind, this was back during the time when Russia was a super power and ran head and head with the United States.  The Afghans may have lost over 1 million in the process, but they fought off one of the most powerful armies in the world.  That is our enemy, gents.  The reason why they beat the Russians is because we trained them and armed them.  That's the Al Queda.  We aren't fighting some 3rd world army, we're fighting an enemy that is trained in modern warfare.  Do NOT underestimate them or you will be carried home by 6 in a pine box.  Our enemy also has the advantage of fighting in their turf and they are highly motivated to get us out of their homes.  Make no mistake, Marines, you will be shot at and blown up and you WILL be exp osed to the danger of severe bodily harm and death.  Don't get me wrong, it is perfectly normal to feel fear.  Courage is not the lack of fear, but the ability to cope with it and to rise above it.  Marines,  people die here everyday for stupid reasons: DUI's, gang shootings, illnesses, car accidents...people die for no reason at all.  I promise you, though, that if you die over there, you are dying for a purpose.  If you don't believe in the purpose of the war, you will be dying for the Marine to the left and right of you.

So train hard, even if you think its not important, because when you're out there its your training that will save you.  Sweat now, Marines, so you may bleed less later.

Ooh rah!
