But, seriously, every time I look for Pete/Brendon it is ANGST. I do not understand this! Where does it come from? In what universe do these two seem like they would be anything other than

What Pete likes most of all in the smile that Brendon has when they're watching movies on the couch and not doing much of anything at all. It's different from his stupid grin, like it's a smile just for Pete. He loves that. It's not the sated smile he gets when they've been in bed together, but the one which means that he's happy all the same.
Brendon likes Pete best of all when they are out in a pubic place, but not talking to anyone, just being together. He seems happiest with other people around, but when Brendon's the only one he's actually with. He laughs and smiles and does everything that Brendon likes about him. He comes up with the funniest things, the best ideas, when they're like this and that makes Brendon happy.

The only thing anywhere close as always to watching Brendon's red framed O face is taking him to Angel's and Kings. It's not the public side of their relationship. Pete actually hates how the media likes make a mockery of the people he loves. The reason why Pete loves taking Brendon to AK is that when everyone leaves, Pete can crawl into Brendon's lap, kiss his boyfriend, in his bar, and feel like he's not a fuck up after all. Like Pete's in the middle of his happily ever after.
Brendon likes the skin around Pete's tattoos. He knows Pete's going to get more tattoo eventually, and he likes to wonder where his metaphor's going to go. Every big moment of Pete's history is written in ink and Bendon likes to look at the open patches of skin and wonder where his future is going to be written.

Pete loves AK because it's just for him, everything is just for him. He can do whatever he wants there and he can have everything that he wants. Most of all, he likes how Brendon's always so nervous when there are other people around, even when it's just the bartenders. Pete knows that they'll keep quiet about whatever goes on after hours, but Brendon never lets it get any further than light petting.
Pete always wonders about Brendon's tattoo. He knows what it means, but he's not quite sure if he's part of it at all. There's been no changes to it since he'd added the flowers, but that's alright, because he sort of knows that Brendon need to show people that and he knows that Pete knows.

Pete have a notebook. A secret notebook that isn't really a secret, but the masterlock on the cover keeps people (Read: Joe) from reading them. it's the notebook of his Brendon lyrics. Some of them are songs too badly writen to see the day, a few are too explicit, a couple are just dressed up poetry, but in between his heart's inked out words there are a couple songs just true enough that Pete wants to share with the world. Brendon makes him feel so good that he wants to share it with the world as soon as he figures out how.
Brendon knows about the notebook because Pete can't keep anything a secret. He even knows where Pete keeps the key. He's looked inside only twice. The first time was before Brendon said I love you to Pete for the first time with all his clothes on and his love on his sleeve. The second time was before Brendon decided he would do whatever it takes to keep Pete forever.
He writes New Perspective when he sleeps with Pete for the first time. Not the whole thing because that would be ridiculous, but he writes the soul of the song then and there. He wants to take Pete everywhere and show him the whole world. And maybe get a blow job, but mostly he wants to take Pete and wrap him up away from all the bad things. And maybe mock him for being a pedophile because it's kind of true.
Brendon's first step at OTP-hood ("I can call us that, Spencer. I am half of my One True Pairing! Don't act like you don't read some of the filthier stuff with you, nate, and Gabe's basement.") is to convince Hemmingway that Brendon is awesome. Brendon kind of flubs it at first. He puts the walk collars on the wrong way and buys the wrong kind of hoodies for dogs. Brendon looses every playful wrestling match and he still swears that Hemmingway tries to drown him that one time with Travie. But Hemmingway get's used to Brendon being there eventually. He starts waking up Brendon for walks if Pete's sleeping and shows his appreciating when Brendon slips him some prime cut beef. "Look at me Spencer Smith, I'm like a good stepmom! Meg Ryan approved!"

Pete kind of knows that he's transparent to Brendon, like he is in some ways to Patrick, but not really. It's in a way that Pete doesn't really want to hide from Brendon, but his mind won't let him just bare everything, so he half-heartedly covers things up. It means that Brendon understands everything about Pete that's necessary. He doesn't look further than he needs to, which is fine with Pete, because he doesn't think that he'll ever be able to let Brendon into that part of him. Just because Patrick stayed, doesn't mean Brendon will.
Pete grins and cares the pedophile jokes, mostly because it's sort of true. He didn't fall in love with Brendon when he was that young, but he definitely had a few fantasies revolving around that ass and those lips. He's never actually told Brendon about those fantasies because everyone thinks that Ryan was the one that sealed the deal for Pete. He was, but musically. Panic had the potential to be amazing and he wanted to make that happen.
The 'going down' line isn't actually something that Brendon wrote, but he fully agrees with it. Ryan had written it, helped him form the majority of the song after Brendon had started it and he's glad that he did. It's the last bit of Panic that he has left and he wants to give that to Pete.
Hemmingway likes Brendon, but Dylan, Hobo and (the other dog, I think it's Marley, but that's Jon's dog) love Pete. It's probably because he likes to roll around on the floor with them, which is something that Brendon's never done. They're quite good about the one rule the two of them have for the dogs, which is that they aren't allowed in the bedroom. Pete was quite worried about how Hemmingway would take that, but they converted the smallest guest bedroom into the dogs' room and he seems to like it. He's hasn't whined at the door that much, except when he's hungry and the two of them have slept in too long.
Spencer totally denies that he reads fanfiction to anyone except for Brendon (who he asked for directions for the good stuff). They are totally girls for this point and this point alone, which is that they get ideas for new and interesting things to do in bed from the fic. Spencer's actually asked Gabe to used his basement before, but had found a camera in the corner when he went to set up for him and Nate. He's alright with the rest of Decaydance not seeing him and his boyfriend have sex.

Their first Christmas together Pete buys Brendon a planet. He fills out all the right forms, writes all the arguments, and then bribes any official at the International Astronomical Union that he can manage. It's a small one just inside the constellation Leo, but it's named Brendon. He can't manage to make himself actually do it because telling Brendon he'd buy him the heaven's and then actually doing it are two very different things. He buys Brendon Clan hoodies, vinyl records, vanity contacts, and a hot tub instead. Then he leaves the paperwork to the planet lying around on the bookshelf in an envelope labeled "BRENDON'S BOXING DAY PRESENT."
Brendon gives Pete a piano sonata for Christmas. "Pete's sonata" is supposed to be the story of Pete coming into Brendon's life and how things change.
Pete slides on to the piano bench next to Brendon when he's done playing and puts a kiss to each one of Brendon's fingertips. "You should totally marry me in Canada. We can invite everyone except Perez Hilton. He'd make an awesome Bad Fairy for the reception. Peter Lewis Kingston Urie the First would make an awesome name. He reaches into his hoodie pocket and pulls out a twist tie from breakfast. He twist it into a ring shape and reaches for Brendon's had. "This is really, really spontaneous if you can't tell, but I'm pretty bad at waiting for things I need. Brendon, will you marry me?"

Brendon finds the envelope on Christmas Eve and actually wait until Boxing Day for Pete to give it to him. By midnight, he's figured out that he was meant to find it, so he does actually sneak off to the office to open it. When he does, he sits on the floor and rips it open, spreading the paperwork out in front of him to make head or tail of it. When he finally understands, he's split between crying and finding Pete to give him the best Boxing Day present he possibly can.
Brendon does start crying when Pete proposes. Pete's not really sure what to make of it until Brendon grasps his face and pulls him into a very wet, but very passionate kiss. Brendon actually wraps his legs around Pete's waist and pulls their clothed bodies as close together as possible. It's Pete's favourite memory of Brendon.
They're heading up to Canada when January hits, so whilst they've had a short engagement, it's longer than Pete honestly wanted. Brendon spends the evening convincing him that he has to pick up Bronx tomorrow and they have to invite their friends to the wedding or else they'll be getting the silent treatment for weeks. Patrick and Spencer would compare their trauma and make bitch faces at the two of them.
Bronx is a bit of a strange situation for Brendon. Pete was with Ashlee when she'd gotten pregnant and he'd wanted Bronx so much, as had Ashlee. Brendon and Pete hadn't gotten together until after he'd turned twenty-one, regardless of that one night, that one kiss and by then, Ashlee had told the world she was pregnant. He likes Ashlee, thinks she's a nice girl and had told Pete that he wouldn't be with him unless he'd split up with Ashlee. Brendon had never expected Pete to break up with her, especially not before Bronx was born.
