Spencer/Adam - Part the firstdo_come_inJuly 4 2009, 22:10:30 UTC
Adam's used to hanging out with older people. He knows what he's doing with them and pretty much everyone he's ever been on tour with has been older than him. His band is the same age as his older brother, he's used to being the youngest. Except this tour, there's other people his age and Bill expects him to go and talk to them. He doesn't like people his age. And this band is exactly why he doesn't like people his age. They are all small and completely confident of their own ability. He hates that.
They wander around, not really sure of what they are doing until Pete shows them around the venue and introduces them to all their techs. Pete's already been to talk to them about making them feel welcome and inviting them to parties. Adam was half listening and waved a hand dismissively when Bill tapped the back of his head to make him listen. Apparently, he's the same age as one of them, the guitarist, and he has to go and bond because they can talk about girls and pre-mature ejaculation.
Adam's not even sure if they'd survive that introduction to the conversation. There's four of them, but Adam's only ever seen three, and then they have techs. Adam remembered with The Academy Is... first got techs. It was their third tour and they still shared them with the newest band. Adam feels almost no connection to this new band.
Before Pete leaves, he does introduce them, but Adam's bass has been playing up and he needed to go to the nearest music store to get the strings replaced. By the time he gets back, his band has dispersed with the new lot and there's only Jon and one of the new band's techs sitting outside the bus. He dumps himself down in Jon's lap, because Jon's surprisingly comfortable and he's from Chicago, so he knows the rules. (The rules: 1. Bromance is totally acceptable 2. Gay isn't gay until there's dicks involved) The other guy seems a bit confused by all this, so Adam figures he's new to touring and just sticks out his hand.
"Hey, I'm Adam, or Sisky Business, or Sisky Biz, Bass Whiz, or God..." The other guy's eyebrows go up and he smirks a little, but Adam just smiles and snuggles down into Jon's lap.
"Spencer. So, are you...?" Spencer replies, waving his hand ambiguously towards Jon and Adam. Jon catches on first and starts laughing before Adam's really had time to think about it. But when he's figured it out, he snorts and shakes his head.
"Nah dude, it's Chicago love. We're totally down with the bromance. You seriously need to meet Bill." Spencer smiles a little and looks down at the floor, blushing rather too much for someone who's been vaguely embarrassed by misinterpreting a romantic situation. "Oh right, you've probably already met him. Jon, dude, shut up. What did he do?"
"Oh man, it was so funny. He licked the lead singer's - Brendon, right? - face and then invited the guitarist back into the bunks." Jon says, through laughter, and Spencer rolls his eyes. "He totally almost went, but Spence stopped him. Dude, you should have been there. Where'd you go?" Sisky raps his hand against the guitar case that he propped against the bus and Jon seems to understand.
"You'll meet them all eventually, I'm sure. It's a treat." Spencer chuckles a little to himself and Adam understands. Bands are weird, especially from the outside in.
"Right, off." Jon says, pushing at Adam's hips, and when he's off, Jon gets up and brushes himself off. "Unlike the talent, I have an actual job to do." Adam flips him off and get up too, offering his hand to Spencer.
"Unless you've got to run off to, want to play XBox in the back?" He says as he pulls Spencer off the ground and Spencer nods, following him onto the bus. There's no-one in the front, but unless they are eating, there never is. Tom's curtain is closed, which means he's sleeping off the hangover and Mike's sitting in the back, already playing. Adam crashes down next to him and Spencer sits down too.
