PATRICK/JOE
PG
In which Pete controls Joe's love life more than he realises and Patrick is a little less nervous than you'd think.
Series 2 - Ficlet 3
Like most days, Joe was not happy with Pete. Usually, however, the reasons why he was not happy with the other man were trivial. This was not. Pete had decided that Joe, his seventeen year old friend, was not getting laid enough. By that, he meant at all. He hadn't laughed when Joe had told him off-handedly that he was still a virgin, so Joe had thought it was all cool. But apparently not laughing had meant that Pete was going to try and do something about it.
So when Andy, a guy he'd known for years, had turned up at the diner that Pete had abandoned Joe in, Joe had been less than pleased. When he had started laughing, Joe had gotten angry at him. But when Andy had explained that Pete had told him a hot girl would be waiting, looking rather bewildered, at the diner, Joe had decided that being angry at Pete would be a better idea.
Joe had thought it was strange that Pete had picked Andy of all people to set him up with. But after Joe's 'coming out party' - when they got very drunk and Joe told Pete that he had a nice ass but that he wouldn't fuck it - Pete had decided that no guys were good enough for his little friend, not like the plethora of girls that he pointed out. Andy was apparently what Joe should've been looking for in a man.
After a few strangely planned out dates, Joe was beginning to get wary about running errands for him. Pete had even begun to accompany him places suggesting that he go talk to that 'cute guy' over there. Joe had actually resorted to hiding in Borders - somewhere Pete was morally opposed to being in - to get away from him.
"Are you stalking me?" Joe looked up from the book that he was flicking through to the person in a Borders' uniform. He frowned at the other boy and returned the book to the shelf.
"Um… no?" The guy stepped forward, pointing the pen he had accusingly at Joe's chest. He took a step backwards and put his hands up defensively.
"You're always here on my shifts and you hang around the places that I work." Joe continued to frown and backed away when the other man moved towards him.
"I basically live here, man. I have to get away from this psycho friend of mine who seems to think that I need to get laid. It's not pretty." The other guy relaxed, but remained sceptical about Joe's presence. "No, seriously. You ever met Pete Wentz?" The accusing guy's eyes widened.
"You-you know Pete Wentz? As in Arma Angelus Pete Wentz?" Joe nodded and let himself be dragged through the store to the coffee shop at the side. They sat down and the other guy quizzed him for at least twenty minutes on the subject of Peter Lewis Kingston Wentz III.
After that Joe had decidedly become very grateful for Pete's neurotic controlling nature. The little dude in the Borders' uniform was in fact the most interesting person that Joe had ever met.
He has yet to tell Pete this.
