I think I have too strong a sense of identity to go to festivals for the sake of going/immersing

"For me, what began as a rollicking adventure over a long weekend with friends ended with deep reflection on why more and more people are seeking out festivals to experience, connect, feel alive. During a talk in the Temple on the last day of Lightning in a Bottle, Chip Conley (of Fest300/Airbnb/Joie de Vivre) decreed: the more digital we get, the more ritual we need. We increasingly seek festival experiences because our growing digital interactions just aren’t the same as real, face-to-face human connection.
In the default world, we tend to live in a continuous state of editing, which keeps us from being in “create” mode. The inescapable magnetism of festivals, and of Lightning in a Bottle in particular, is that they provide a fully immersive, participatory environment that inspires the creator in all of us. Rather than being consumed by doing, we can simply be."
