at 1:30pm everyday for about 7 minutes, and when the sun is not obscured by clouds, it is positioned exactly to reflect off the blue glass panes of the adjecent building and in turn bathing my living room with an extremely bright swath of diffused light. In that moment, the house becomes this santified space of annoying blindness, and one word best sums this experience up: awful.
a word that is used to describe the inability to comprehend that which is divine can also at the same time mean an extremely distasteful experience - two very different emotions that draw attention to how interesting the processes that are involved in the way words acquire, leak and evolve in meanings depending on long term implicitly acknowledged community embodied language use and experience are. even more interesting how these meanings can be ambiguous, far flung and contradictory, pointing to much more complex links between experience and language, the parts of the mind processes that conceptualises and organises them, and of the body that is drawn to or away from it. all becomes so very mysterious.
