[The plane stopped rocking two hours ago, which made it especially easy for Mattie to doze off close to the window. Though the sky outside was dark and rain pattered lightly against the glass, it was soothing, and wide blue eyes slid shut behind orange-tinted goggles; she wouldn't remove them, not for anything.
After a while, consciousness began to filter into the darkness, and she opened her eyes slowly, ready for some perky stewardess to be right in her face about the goddamned seatbelt.
But when she looked around, she realized that there wasn't a stewardess; there wasn't even a plane. There was just a fancy wall, with fancy lights hanging from a fancy ceiling; they lit the place up dimly, just enough for her to make out the not so fancy carpet. Wrinkling her nose, Mattie stretched her legs out, looking to her left - since to her right was a dead end.]
