Mello walked down the long hallway, counting the green bills that had been crushed into his hand when all was said and done. His blonde, sweaty locks hung over his paled face and he growled in dissatisfaction when he realized that the amount was less than he'd been expecting. Embarrassed, he shoved the money into his leather-clad pocket and huffed

*Mel hasn't seen a boy version of herself around for a while, and this one's either new or fresh from a traumatic room. Either way, she knows better than to offer to help him up. She stops a little distance away and tips her head at him.*

Mello glanced up, supporting himself on his arms as he prepared to stand. He was taken back when he realized that a doppelganger of himself was standing before him. Great, let the weirdness roll in.

"... Hey?" he responded, not feeling as though he should be surprised since the other Mello wasn't either.

He saw that there was something different about the double... its chest... there were things there. What the--?

*Mel's used to this.*

Yeah, I'm a version of you. Yeah, I've always been a girl. No, I'm not gonna show 'em to you.

"I didn't ask to see them!" Mello barked, his face turning bright red, "A version of me? A woman? ... That's weird."

He shivered.

Pff, I think the boy versions are the weird ones.

*Even though almost every world she's heard of comes with a boy Mello, she firmly believes female is the natural Mello state.*

Has anyone given you the rundown of this place yet?

Mello felt awkward speaking to a female version of himself-- especially one that seemed so confident that Mello should be female. He wondered how Matt would feel about this... probably ecstatic.

"Yeah," the blonde replied, "A Misa did."

*Mel doesn't make a face, but her very lack of expression might say pff, Misas for her.*

Do you know one in your world?

[mymellodrama]

"No, I don't," Mello responded, "But I've seen two of them here. They're pretty damn annoying."

He pursed his lip in irritation.

*This opinion makes Mel warm to him immensely.*

No shit. There's one here who's okay, but mostly, they're useless.

*She considers him for a moment. If he's from one of the usual kinds of worlds, he ought to be getting close to knowing who Amane is.*

What year is it for you?

"I can't imagine one that isn't useless," Mello mumbled, "It's 2012 where I'm from."

*Mel blinks at him.*

Really. We don't usually last that long.

"I'm only twenty," Mello blinked back, "I'm sure that my timing is much different from yours... how old are you?"

Not knowing how to talk to a woman of his own attitude, he didn't know that he shouldn't ask such a question.

Probably twenty. Hard to say. I've been here two years, and it fucks with your sense of time.

*She's not about to admit to him that she died in her world.*

Do you have Kira where you come from?

[mymellodrama]

"Sure I do," Mello grumbled, "But aside from L's murder, I had nothing to do with him."

He pursed his lip.

You didn't go after him?

*She might as well add What the hell's wrong with you?, given her expression.*

"I tried, but some things got in the way," Mello replied quietly.
