It's like that twilighty show about that zone...

Beyond's sigh floated through the face mask. How long had it been? A year? Two years? Time disappears so easily when one is behind bars-well except for the numbers that counted down above people's heads.

Day in and day out it was the same. The same boring old monotony. B could feel his mind slipping away; he was becoming lethargic. This wasn't ( Read more... )

::In a connecting hall, Misa walks humming a classical tune. She carrys a silver tray piled with sweets; cakes, cookies, perserves jam, muffins strawberries, raspberries, tarts and a few small thermos' of strawberry and chocolate milk. Her red plaid dress swishes softly as she moves, her blonde hair and the bow headband bouncing slightly with each step. The humming gets louder as she nears and suddenly she rounds the corner, stopping short when seeing a man in a mask.::
::Normally, she loved masks and thought those to be wearing them to be fun, but this mask was different- it reminded her of a movie she happened to see at a very young age about a man who bit another man's face off. But if her memory served her right, she had found the man to be strangely interesting, however still dangerous. And this one appear to be a B. Oh dear, L would not like this.::
::Approaching cautiously, keeping her distance, she stops and smiles softly, a little nervous::
Um, hello. Is everything alright?

As the woman approached B was far too engaged in his attempts to reach that single irritating spot to take any notice of her. That is until she spoke up, of course.

Beyond turned and eyed the blond. His eyes locked on hers then drifted to her outfit before he finally glanced at the name floating above her head. B took note of the lack of numbers.

….

Not that anyone would be able to tell-until the raven haired man broke out into a fit of laughter-but B's current smile was wide. This was amazing! He really had made it to heaven! But how? Why? Who cared?

Beyond certainly didn't and his laughter-however brief and abruptly stopped-showed it.

“No. Still not quite right.” B murmured to himself before his eyes met Misa's again. This time B spoke up a bit louder-a non-whispered tone, “Would you help me scratch my back? I can't seem to reach.”

((OOC: XD I hope I have fun here, too. (It really looks like fun *Has been reading through past posts*) That's a lovely song and outfit, by the way. ))

::His laugh made her jump slightly, but she smiled a bit and laughed as well. He must have seen that she had no numbers, she saw his eyes slide above her head however she'd never gotten a laugh from a B before for that reason, ususally they were angry. It was a nice change, though. Perhaps this one wasn't so bad after all? She'd still have to be careful.::

::Hesitently, she sets the tray down on a nearby end table and comes closer, on guard but keeping her body relaxed::
-ah, sure.
::reaching out, she gently touched his back and began to scratch in the area she assumed he could not reach.::
-here?

She was almost perfect. B's head tilted backward in anticipation of the pleasure of a scratched itch. Once again his eyes shut. A breathy whisper left his lips, “A bit to the left.”

It was true, B was taking this awfully well. It was amazing what sudden freedom could do to a man that had been given a life sentence. Beyond arched his back and slowly let one set of eyelids part.

“What is this place?” Beyond was certain there must have been some catch here; He was alive, out of prison, and greeted by a beautiful woman carrying a tray of all manner of treats-treats that he had already made up his mind to devour as soon as his itch was dealt with.

::Complying, she moved her hand to scratch a bit to the left. It was strange-he looked so much like L, of course with the slight differences each new arrival had, and even his back felt similar, yet somehow different.::

This place is called The Mansion. It's sort of a place between worlds. People from all over are brought here to stay for an indefinete period of time. Everything is provided for us, however sometimes the rooms place tricks on us. Be careful of the ones with an X on them, they're usually very dangerous so it's not wise to enter them. Though, not all dangerous rooms have been found, I think.
Do you go by B? I've met a few doubles of you before. There are doubles of all sorts of people here, though we usually all have something common.

The hint of joy was sucked from his face. Not heaven? Well that was expected. But how interesting-a place between worlds... So many questions began to move through B's mind. He wasn't sure which to ask first.

His eyes drifted upward in thought for a moment-lost in thought-before he finally decided to reach behind his head and remove the face mask. B held it limply in one hand as he slouched. This was-fantastic. He had gone from one prison to another or would it be better to call this place-

“An experiment?” He muttered to himself and started to move to the tray of food. “Specimens are brought here from other worlds and placed in a maze laden with traps,” B started with cake-he didn't bother with any utensils,”we pick the wrong door and we're punished. If we pick the right door we're rewarded.” His words were punctuated with the eating sounds of a starving man that hadn't had a piece of good food in years. “Correct?”

This sounded like something he would take pleasure in doing to others. As B mused one thought came to his mind.

B considered all that she had said. A master and his assistant-magical beings? Observation of living dolls? Entertainment? He bit the cookie in half. It was perfect; it tasted fresh, just the way he liked it. He frowned.

“It sounds like this... 'hotel' only gives an illusion of freedom.” Make no mistake, B was grateful to be here and the food, so far, was the best he had ever tasted; B could hardly wait to reach into a jar of jam. But dying against his will to be brought to this place was a miserable concept.

B-after finishing the cookie-brought the tip of his finger to his lips to suck the melted chocolate from one of the chocolate chips off of his skin.

“We can go wherever we like, as long as we stay right here.” Beyond finally reached for a jam jar-a smile crossed his face-a Cheshire grin. “I take it everyone is mad here.”

Yes, that's exactly the case. However, our accomodations are plesant. This place could be far worse than it is, which is good.
::She watched his finger enter his mouth, so much like L - it was rather endearing.::

::At his smile, she smiles as well, her eyes wide in what she knows must look rather unsettling::
Of course everyone is mad. Being here is no exception to that, I assure you.

Oh, and do choose a room for yourself. Most of them are on this floor, though there are also some on the floor above us, the third floor, and occationally some on the floor below us, the ground floor.

B nodded, he would most certainly decide on a room for himself-once he had found out a few more important things; there was no point in rushing things after all he was --is?--dead. It wasn't as though-B cocked an eyebrow as he twisted the jar open.

“Is it possible for the dead to die here?” He glibly prattled off the philosophical query before taking a hand full of jam to his lips. By what she had said it seemed that death was impossible, unless perhaps the powers that be tired of the antics or found the entertainment sub par. After all, there were rooms devoted to letting people die and brought back to life.

Permanently? Not exactly. Some people die here and are dead for a while. Usually they're brought back by some means or another.
::she thinks a moment::
Though, some people have been taken back to their world for a little bit, sometimes to stay and other times only to be brought back here after a little while. It's possible for a dead person to go back to their world and to whatever afterlife they may have only to be brought here again after a little while...it sounds strange, but I suppose it would be possible.
::she turns her gaze back to him::
You have...passed on?

“It seems I have.” Beyond sucked at his fingers before dipping them back in the jam for another handful. “My heart stopped. Then...”

How strange did that sound? How could one actually be able to make such a claim. If one's heart stopped that was typically the end for them. His mind pondered the surreality of it all as he continued, “I found myself here.”

Beyond fed off of the jam like a hungry mosquito. “Have you ever experienced death?”

Mmm...::she nods in confirmation:: It seems quite a few people have arrived here like like that.

::at his question she looks up, nodding slightly with a bit of a harder swallow::
Yes, in the death room. Twice, no, wait-
:she thinks again::
It might have been 3, but that may have been a dream. I've alwasy had vivid dreams and I've died in some of them so I experienced that sort of death before I ever came here. But, in the death room, it was the same two times for sure - it made me relive my suicide attempted from a few years ago, except this time it made me succeed.
