[Mello is still nine years old, and is dragging a similarly small Matt along the hallway by the hand. He stops when he sees L, his eyes wide. He may or may not hold onto Matt's hand tighter.]

[ooc: Hiya! First of all, I <3 Mirrormask. Second, logical_red and Mello are inseparable as kids, so Matt's going to reply to this tag in a bit, and then we can rotate? Hope that's all right!]
L blinked a moment and tilted his head at the new children without...without masks...what the hell?? Were they from Misa's world? "I'm not in disguise...why aren't you wearing masks?" he asked "Didn't your guys mums ever tell you to always wear masks when your in front of people?" He slowly reached down and picked up his juggling balls and eyes the children. He then looked at Matt. "Hah I'm not a clown I'm a very important person. I have a tower, I'm not a lowly clown I'm a juggler and a fine one at that."
L started juggling again and looked at the children still. "I am not from the circus..." he answered. Though ever since he had found out Misa's family had owned one he had wanted to be in one. He didn't exactly know why. "What's your guy's names?" he asked after a minute.
[Matt steps back, to stand behind Mello a little. He really doesn't like clowns, or any kind of circusey people. This guy is definitely from the circus, he thinks.]
"People used to call me L but I have been given a nickname that I enjoy more then that name.Please call me VaLentine." he said with a smile. "You both have such strange names...I think maybe you should have them changed...something more romantic and mysterious...like Valentine or something." Why yes he is full of himself. "Do you mind me asking...where are we?" he still thinks he's at the dark queen's palace but...if there are kids like this running around it must not really be the palace after all.
"It's not a weird name. Yours is...well at least were I come from." he paused a moment before wondering if maybe he was in Misa's world. "Is Misa Amane around here?" L perked up at the mention of food. "Can you take me to the kitchen then?"
"It is too." he said He looks at Matt and smiles slightly. "Well if you see her tell her I said hello." He smiled more when he heard how close the kitchen was. "Can you take me?"

[He obviously assumes that if he doesn't know someone, they're not worth knowing.]

Misa Amane sounds familiar, [he whispers to Mello.]
The kitchen's just a couple halls down. [The clown guy is weird and kind of creepy, but Matt doesn't think he's dangerous.]

He smiled more when he heard how close the kitchen was.
