[Slowly, Matt lifts his head off his chest; his back's starting to hurt from the way he's crumpled so haphazardly on the floor, but he doesn't seem to have it in him to really move yet. Blinking, his head begins to clear a little more when he sees L lying on the floor in a puddle of blood.]

Jesus - L... [He breaks off into a fit of coughing, and more blood splatters on the pristine floor.] You okay...?

Shh, don't. Jus' don't say anything or try to move for awhile - it's easier if you try to recover a lil.

[He's been here a while, obviously, and he can just now stand. Stand he does, though he's too weak to move far from the wall.]

[Matt stares over at L, only sorta seeing him. The guy looks real bad off, and he takes a deep breath before pushing himself off the wall. He stumbles a bit, closer to the sprawled detective; stooping, he grabs him by the arm, tugging him over, away from the pool of blood, at least. Laying there, like that, surrounded by his own fluid... it would make him sick, so he knows L's in a bad place.]

Sorry - if 'm hurtin' you...

[He winces a bit as he lets go of L's arm, stumbling a bit but somehow managing to remain standing. He seems to be getting the hang of this blood loss thing.]

Jesus Christ, there's a ton of blood... [He says this without even really thinking about it, and then the irony hits him.] I prob'ly - look like shit too, eh?

[L's classically blunt answer catches Matt slightly off-guard, and he plops down beside the fallen detective, chuckling.]
