Pern Room
[Mail is exploring around, trying to discover a solution for Mel’s nightmares and nail-biting problem. He wonders if there’s a spell that might assist, but none of the books they have are helpful with dream-related issues. So, the obvious solution is to go to the library!
Yet, the mansion has decided to play musical rooms again, and Mail enters, not in the library, but some odd cave that’s massive, as if it were a hollow mountain. He finds himself situated on a tier that overlooks a clutch of twenty-seven mottled eggs, garbed no longer in his jeans and shirt - but a dress tunic and boots.
He opens his mouth to question exactly what’s going on, but a voice in his mind answers for him, and he sways from the shock of it.]
They are about to hatch, M’ail. Do you not wish to watch?
[And he’s stunned when suddenly a looming bronze shape on the upper tier turns his massive head to study him with one rapidly whirling red eye. The dragon, Mail (or M’ail) realizes, is humming. And it only takes one look into that faceted orb to know that this room makes sense.]
Forgive me, Onyth. My mind was elsewhere. [He replies, and the bronze gives a soft rumble before turning once again to survey the rocking eggs.]
[ooc: For all you fans of Anne McCaffery, I give to you: The DragonRiders of Pern Room! Upon entrance, you will be transported into a weyr’s hatching grounds, and your clothing will be in the traditional garb - dress tunic or skirts for watchers, or white robes for the candidates.
For those who have no clue what I’m talking about, look here for dragon color-related information (you will need to log in as ‘preview’, which is the same as a guest), or here for relative dragon sizes (9th Pass).
The Rules:
1) I control the eggs. Not you. After your character Impresses the dragon, feel free to take over. But I’m the one doing the matching. If you want to name the dragon yourself, let me know in an ooc message. this is a good site for name ideas. Go to ‘specialized names’ and then ‘dragons (pern)’. HOWEVER, if you want to have your character automatically have their dragon (like Mail), that’s fine too. But absolutely no golds/queens unless I specify.
2) In an ooc message, let me know your character’s sexuality. Why? Because it makes pairing easier.
3) NO FIRELIZARDS. Sorry to everyone who likes the little flitterbys, but this is a dragon hatching.
4) NOTHING leaves this room. I mean it, people. Effects remain within the room. Feel free to come back and visit, but we don’t need any dragons or firelizards running amok.
5) REMEMBER THE HONORIFIC CONTRACTION. This only applies to males, but it’s very important! Also, if you’re naming your own dragon, follow the -th ending rule. EVERY dragon’s name ends in -th, without exception. AND NO TWO DRAGONS’ NAMES ARE EVER THE SAME.
