Not really. I think humankind models chemistry in that, no matter how unstable we are now, we're working towards equilibrium. Then we become unstable again. Like the death and birth of stars. i was thinking that! i mean, it's probably for obvious reasons... as soon as photography made its way into the world, painters could get more abstract and simple. ancient painters had to create something everyone would look at and understand; modern painters express themselves through means that only they may "get", because they don't need to document the world for everyone, just for themselves.
