I am usually indifferent to Valentine’s Day, but figure it would be as good an excuse as any to force myself to get works done. So, ignoring the expansive and ever-increasing backlog of works on my to-do list, here is the plan (of doom):
[Note: the order of the names are alphabetical, and not indicative of hierarchy within a relation. ]
1. FFVII: Rufus/Tseng (power couple of choice)
2. One Piece: Sanji/Zoro (crack pairing/comic duo/trainwreck of choice)
3. Hellsing: Alucard/Integra (master/slave dynamic of choice)
4. Seirei no Moribito aka Guardian of the Sacred Spirit: Balsa/Tanda (sensible canon pairing of choice)
5. Naruto: Shikamaru/Temari (oedipal pairing of choice)
Fandoms and characters I love but will probably not do fanart for this time round (though really, who knows?):
- Blade of the Immortal: I more or less love all of the characters and am willing to see them in just about any combination. Manji/Rin, Magatsu/Manji, Anotsu/Magatsu, Antosu/Rin, Anotsu/Makie, Giichi/Hyakurin etc etc. Hiroaki Samura's art is far too good, and it simply wouldn't do the canon justice if I were to post something without doing character studies first.
- Baccano!: mmm. The plot is so wonderfully mangled and non-linear that I will have to rewatch it a number of times. Nevertheless: Ennis/Firo, Claire/Chane (though perhaps I like this pairing a little less than the first).
- Texhnolyze: I finished this series recently. It's cyberpunk in distilled form and bleak as hell (not that I mind). It's beautifully shot and animated, and in many respects resembles a live action film more than an anime. While accessibility probably wasn't at the top of the director's list, it's not as difficult to follow as some other series. I also appreciate the fact that there isn't endless amounts of exposition/interior monologue; the audio consists mainly of a) silence, b) soundtrack, c) foleyed diegetic sounds (there's a lot of heavy breathing. Just so you know). The end consequence is that the characters, much like the overall series itself, are more intriguing than they are endearing. Pairings: Doc/Ichise, Hirota/Onishi, Kohagura/Touyama (all canon), Ichise/Touyama (might as well be canon).
