The neighborhood kind of has that "dragged through hell" look today...

Went and toured the damage scene this morning. Didn't bother taking pictures cause it wasn't anything that hasn't been all over the internet already. Was interesting tracing the path as it cut a swath from Old Town, magically skipping over the Five Points intersection (which I'm glad for, not only because my mother was there - and wasn't kidding when she says she saw it pass right over her - but because, and especially at evening rush, this town narrowly avoided having a major disaster on it's hands due to blind luck). It then touched down on Ward and just barreled through diagonally northeast up to around Maysville/Oakwood/Philpot. Corners were torn off of brick houses, cars lay flattened where trees had fallen on them in yards, but some of the most staggering sights were places where trees had gone over and taken the sidewalks with them. There were aged slabs of concrete (concrete I've walked on I don't know how many times myself) sticking straight up in the air. And everywhere, people and trucks busy putting things slowly back together. Nobody seemed especially shaken, just sort of... awed

big messes, goings on, local
