Scarlett's Here!

Jul 01, 2009 00:28

Just a quick update to say that Scarlett is here! She was born at 4:18 pm, weighs 7lbs, 3 oz, and is 21 inches long.

I'll give more details late, but a short summary is like this:

Arrived at L&D. Admitted.

Hung out and timed contractions.

Contractions lessened.

Put on drug to jump start contractions.

Contractions intensify, get regular.

Dr ruptured my membraines around 10. At around 6-7 cm and 50-70% effaced.

Contractions REALLY Painful.

Got short term pain relief while waiting for epidural. Nurse told me it would be the best margarita ever. It was. :)

Got epidural around 11. Didn't hurt as much as the IV. SO HAPPY with epidural.

Contractions overpowered epidural around 1:15

Nurse checked my measurements - almost 10 cm. 1:30

More epidural medicine! yay!

Doctor arrives at about 3 and I start pushing.

Pushing lasts just over an hour.

Episiotomy + tear = about 1 inch, also cut on the inside.

Scarlett comes out with umbillical cord wrapped around her neck - taken off quickly.

She's cleaned and I deliver placenta and bleed all over everything.

I attempt to breastfeed. Scarlett would rather scream and look suspiciously at Daddy.

Daddy holds Scarlett and family and friends enter the room. I'm tired, but too exhilerated to feel exhaustion.

Scarlett is moved to nursery (still there). Mom and Dad are moved to recovery. I get to eat food! Yay!

Very tired, but chat with family, talk, update websites, and finally go to bed.

Difficult day, but SO wonderful. I am so happy to be a mom. I loved seeing the look of love in my husband's eyes when he looked at me and at Scarlett. We're already becoming a family.
