Wedding memories 1 - before the ceremony

After getting our nails done and going to dinner, I decided we needed to make a market run because I wanted some snacks and stuff. I also realized I couldn't find my hairbrush, which was really good, because I haven't found my hairbrush since. I still have the purple one. We also bought Spaceballs so we'd have something to watch.

I remember sitting up late the night before and watching Spaceballs with Chanel, Adri and Trine while filling out the cards which told everyone where to sit. I was so totally exhausted, I slept, but I don't know if there were any dreams.

The next morning, Trine drove me to get my makeup done, and we realized that I didn't have anything blue, so she ran over to Target and found me a blue anklet. She also grabbed some other stuff for me, but she didn't have any money, so she took my credit card and forged my name. ^_^. My makeup looked awesome, But unfortunately it melted a lot as the day wore on. On our way back, I remember talking to some teenagers. I think they wanted to wash our car or something. But we told them we couldn't because I was on my way to my wedding and we didn't have time to stop.

When we got back to the room, I started to get ready, but I don't really remember the order in which I did so. I know I did my hair first, but only because the picture and logic tell me so. Soon after getting back, Katie came in with bagels, and Jason came over to steal some, since none of the boys thought to get food. Greg's cousin Mary did my hair while Chyeanne and Trine talked with me. Adri and Chanel went to get their hair done at a salon and Trine managed to get her own hair done. (Mom yelled at me for not planning that, but we got our signals crossed - I thought it was hair or nails, Mom said hair and nails.) I put my slip on and Dad came in at some point to yell at me about taking his room (which I had, but that was because I'd spent the night there, and they hadn't. Mostly, he just was upset at me getting married). Dad cried, I yelled at him, Mom yelled at him, I cried, and he left. I finished getting ready, and once I was dressed, I realized I hadn't put my garter on. Trine had to venture under my dress in order to put it on my leg because there was no way I could do it alone. At this time, I was hunched over working on writing my wedding vows. They weren't that great because I couldn't find the words to express everything in my heart and I'd waited and waited because I hadn't yet found them. If I still had more time, I don't know if I'd ever find words that are good enough. In any case, I waited until the last minute. I had the words in my head, but I was busy putting them to paper because I was worried I'd be so nervous I'd forget them.

After that, the photographer came in to take some pictures for me, and I went out on the balcony. I was standing up taking pictures when we realized Greg was outside and there was a good chance he'd see me. I immediately ducked behind the small wall and Trine and the other girls screamed at Greg to go into his room and hide until he was given permission to come back out. That actually ended up being my favorite picture of me from the wedding - it's the one I've used as my facebook profile picture for the past 2 years.

We then went down closer by the lake to get some better shots. I leaned up against one of the palm trees for some pictures and realized it was covered with ants. Greg and I talked about it, and apparently he was too chicken to lean against the tree. :D

While we were taking pictures, it was incredibly hot. In fact, while the girls were waiting to take pictures with me, they were holding their skirts up and fluffing them. They looked really silly and very unlady-like. But you do what you must when you're hot. Also, while I was taking pictures, Grammy and Grandad came and found me and I took some pictures with them!

Soon after that it was almost time for the wedding. Honestly, I forget what I did after pictures until we lined up. We all lined up after the guests were seated. I think Victoria and Katie (my two cousins who passed out the program) sat down. The boys, including Grandpop (Greg's grandfather/our pastor) gathered in the shade and when the music stared, they lined up - minus Kyle and Carter. Then the procession music started and Dave and Viv walked out. Then Kyle and Carter walked Mom down. Kyle picks up Viv (Greg's mom) and the moms light the two unity candles. Then the mothers are seated and my brothers join the other groomsmen. Then the bridesmaids - Adri, Brigette, Erin, and Chanel - walk down, followed by Trine. Then Blain, the ring bearer, walks down, then the flower girls - Chyanne, Samantha and Julie Ray.

All during this time, the annoying and useless wedding coordinator was fluttering around. I do believe I yelled at her. Dad and I had a nice time waiting in the shade, and Dad had a really hard time trying not to cry. I had a really hard time trying not to cry while watching him trying not to cry, so I think I kept trying to make jokes or something. When I finally heard my music, the wedding coordinator cued me...and stepped on my wedding dress...with her muddy shoe. She actually arrested my step and left a footprint that was there for the rest of the night. It made a good story later though!

To be continued....
