Queer goings on
Okay, now I know for certain that the right wingers in the US are completely, utterly and totally off their collective rockers. According to them, the children's TV character (a *cartoon* character), Sponge Bob, is gay. Why? Because he holds hands with his friend Patrick a starfish. Don't believe me? Go here
Let's put a little perspective on this. It is a fucking cartoon. Aimed at kids. There is *NO* political agenda. It's to make kids laugh. Period. If there is any other agenda it's to encourage respect for each other - and that is it. Nothing else.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I read things like this. As the article points out, these are the same people that 'outed' Tinky Winky. Haven't they got something better to do? And don't they realise that kids wouldn't see anything in a kids show other than what is directly on the screen? They either like a show or they don't. They're far more discriminating about what they watch than most adults, in fact. At least mine are. My younger kids watch Sponge Bob or whatever he's called. They think it's funny. That's all that matters.
