I wanted to keep my journal non-political, really I did, but the latest bunch of crap being drummed up by the McCain-Palin machine has me up in arms.
Let me see if I've got this straight, Palin can readily describe herself as a "pit bull with lipstick", and that's okay, but when Obama comes out and makes a comment about putting "lipstick on a pig", with the pig in question being the McCain campaign and "platform", for what it's worth, then all of a sudden Obama needs to apologize for calling Palin a pig?
Dammit, go back and reread what Obama said! He did NOT call Palin a pig; if anything, he referred to her as the lipstick on the pig, which considering her rather superficial nature thus far, isn't much of a mischaracterization. If her handlers would permit a display of some of the substance of what she stands for, maybe she would be thought of as something more than window-dressing that's being used in an attempt to appeal to women on a level that they should consider an insult.
