Help?

Oct 19, 2007 16:07

Okay. I was just thinking about this last night after I had already left, but I'm going to need help in a MAJOR way for the Nano idea I've come up with. It was originally supposed to an original fic or poetry or something, but that fell by the wayside ( Read more... )

There's another one that was more recent. At least, I think that was it. Let me check and see.

Yay! That was it. I don't know why I had it in my head that it was someone by a different name. . .

Do you want a thank you drabble?

It's about a year behind in updates, but Arduinna's Stargate Handbook is a great resource for info on the show. There's a "Personnel" section under the "Atlantis" heading that might prove helpful. (Direct link here if you hate frames.)

Another character that's not on your list but should qualify is Dr. Keller, Carson Beckett's replacement. (I'm not sure we know her first name yet...?)

Other characters you're missing include Markham (now deceased) and Stackhouse, Sgt. Bates (head of security), Dr. Brendan Gall (died in The Defiant One), Dr. Parrish (botanist, introduced in Runner), and Laura Cadman (who shared Rodney's body in Duet).

Thanks! I'll look through her website to get a bead on everyone.

Thanks for the character names. I've heard of them all, but I couldn't think of everyone at once. Unfortunately, I can't use some of them because of the area of canon's timeline I am using. I might be able to work in Bates, if I explain how he made it back to Atlantis.

I definitely thought about Cadman, but I know that I'd just screw her up. I loved her too much to inflict that kind of havoc on her. = D

Hey, do you want to know about someone if it's a spoiler for a future season 4 episode?

I don't mind. Highlight for spoiler: [[ I know that Kavanagh is coming back, because I saw the picture of him with the cut ponytail. ]] I am thinking about using that, but I don't know if the episode will air while I am writing.

Who were you thinking about? And yeah, you can you make it whited-out or something, so we don't spoil those who don't want to be spoiled? Please?

Because it's such a popular pairing, there are scads of really amazing McKay/Sheppard stories. The one that won me over to the pairing is Scenes from a Lesser War by amireal.

The Secret Lives of Scientists by julad completely sold me on McKay/Zelenka. It's still my favorite story for that pairing.

Despite the incredible hotness of Ronon, I couldn't really imagine him with Rodney until I read Anomalies by sori1773. Now I love them together.

I rarely read het, so I suppose it makes sense that my favorite Teyla/McKay story is fairly close to gen. Athosian for Beginners by trinityofone is beautiful, and it made me see the possibilities for Rodney and Teyla.

I didn't see her on your list, but Laura Cadman is a character who sticks around, plus she has connections to Rodney. My favorite Cadman/McKay story is Habit; Routine Practice by raisintorte.

I'll think about the other characters and see if any stories occur to me.

Wow! Thanks! I was only expecting one link for everyone who came by. I definitely agree with you on "Anomalies"! I've read it at least two or three times and I think that I printed it out, to boot.

I thought about Laura, but I am convinced that I'll miss her up. I liked her well enough on the show and in the few fics I've checked out. I will get on these fics ASAP, because I need to do my leg work, so to speak.

You're more than welcome to drop off as many links as you'd like. Heaven knows that I need them.

Now, would you like a thank you drabble?

Where's Major Evan Lorne? He and Ronon started on the show about the same time.

While Joe Mallozzi has said that Lorne's first name is Evan, it hasn't been used on the show yet.

The name Miko has never been used with Kusanagi. In fact, we don't even know whether Dr. Kusanagi is male or female. All we know is that Dr. Kusanagi has the ATA gene and has been the Control Chair.

BTW if you want to know character names, just check the full character list for Atlantis on imdb. Now, I know that they do get things wrong, but it's mostly correct. Then you can cross check with the Character section in the GateWorld Omnipedia.

Do you want canon-ish fics or will you take slash ones? Because fanon is mostly about the slash.

And, do you want us to give you quirks ourselves or point out fics that use them? I can go on and on about some of the characters.

I thought about him, too, but I'm not as big a fan of him paired with anyone other than Lisa Novak and Radek Zelenka. I am making one great leap with the John/Rodney fic, so I wasn't sure that I could handle two. I'm one of about three people in the fandom that doesn't pair the two of them together. I thought I'd add that particular challenge to my I've-never-written-anything-this-lengthy! dilemma. Heh.

I believe that "Evan" was also used on SG-1 where he was originally a geologist. It's the episode where he got sick and threw on someone's boots. Jack's, I think. I checked GW.Net just now and I found the episode.

I remember the chatter on LJ and on GW about Miko's last name possibly being Kusangi. It probably isn't, because I also remember seeing another Asian scientist being shown, but that person was male. Either way, I kind of like the last name for her ( ... )

Oy! I asked you about the drabble twice! I didn't check the screen name before answering. I was just going down the page and getting everyone at once. Since you commented in a couple of different areas, you can have two drabbles. = )

Kusanagi's female sgafan33 November 30 2007, 18:34:14 UTC
Dr. Kusanagi is a woman, and her gender is canon. In "The Siege, Part 2" Beckett is being dragged into the control chair room by Rodney, and as Carson really doesn't like the chair, he suggests Kusanagi as a replacement, adding "I'm sure she'll relish the opportunity to help."
