well, I just finished a week at the Washington State Junior Miss program in Pullman, WA.
I volunteer as a van driver and also work back stage.
Sunday and Monday we started with snow and ice covered streets, but by Tuesday it was raining and by Saturday all the snow was gone and driving was a breeze... (usually it's the other way around with the snow and ice showing up on Thursday or so)
My day starts about 6:30 am, with the first girl picked up at 7:25 am, and I had 5 girls to pickup at 3 different host family homes. There were 32 girls competing for scholarships thus year, so we had a total of 7 van drivers.
Then we drive the girls to different spots each day for lunch, then the van drivers go someplace else for lunch... and then return to pick the girls up shortly before 1 pm.
Then the girls practice for the show on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
About 4:30 we take the girls home to their host families for dinner and pick them up about 2 hours later.
In the meantime, the van drivers have met at one of the local Pullman restaurants for dinner.
The girls continue their practices and we drive them home about 10:00....
The van drivers then either return home or to their hotel room and then it starts all over again the next day.
You can find more information about the program at http://www.washingtonjuniormiss.com/
This year, my hotel room was donated, which saved me about $280.. but you still have to eat, but the hotel room had a microwave and refrigerator in it, so I just bought some cold cereal and milk and had that each morning...
Then you wind up buying the girls things... like flowers ($15) and espresso (or hot chocolate), ice cream from Ferdinands http://www.wsu.edu/creamery/ferdinands/ferdfront.htm the ice cream is good, but the CHEESE is delicious

All in all it's a good time...

Friday I managed to take in part of the drag show at "The Beach" in Moscow, ID, where I got to see some friends that I hadn't seen for two years or more since I moved away... but it made for a short night of sleep... about 5 hours, so was a bit tired on Saturday, but I slept in on Sunday morning and then met some friends for breakfast, before I dropped off the van I had and picked up my car and drove home.

Now, I'm working on laundry and repacking as I leave Monday for Pt. Townsend and 4 days of law enforcement training... then I'm headed directly to Tacoma on the 28th and return home here on the 30th.
Then Feb. 1st and 2nd I have pesticide classes in Wenatchee all day.... then I think I might have some time to myself after that :) coming up on my birthday March 1st... 49th
