Preaching after multiple delays

Two years ago, it was deep snow that caused a cancellation of my sermon.  Last year it was an administrative meltdown.  In spite of being thoroughly unhappy about both events, I am now grateful.  I completely rewrote the sermon (now retitled as Reenchanting the Land) and refocused on the need to provide the congregation with some Ways to approach the power within the Land.  The Way of the Healer, The Way of Observation, the Way of Self-Knowledge, the Way of Prayer, and the Way of Service.  Really just a few paragraphs on each, but enough to make the point.

I was equally blessed to have a music director, Michael,  who completely got where I wanted to go.  Beautiful and complicated music including lots of Jim Scott (a UU who cowrote the Missa Gaia) and Unbroken Chain which I had requested.  It was Michael's birthday and he decided he wanted to solo Unbroken Chain - just stunning.

So, while it all would have been fine two years ago and maybe better last year, this year was perfect -  proving once again that things that seem like obstacles may actually be blessings in disguise.

Should anyone be interested in the text - send me email and weather you can read MS Word 2007 format.

reenchanting, unbroken chain, unitarian-universalism
