Tuesday an email was sent to GENTEX inquiring what their intentions were about hiring me.

Wednesday a phone call was recieved from a company named MEARS, asking for an interview.  Circumstances forced its postponment until this upcoming week.  During the night, resumes were submitted to many companies for dozens of summer 2007 internships, which are still available.  (surprisingly)

Thursday came a call about my mad welding skills.  The caller said something about how they bought me a new welder and wanted me to start immediately.  The fiction collective check was also recieved and I took my car in for brake work.

Friday, I was a welder.  The work is temporary.  Probably not enough to meet internship requirements.

Saturday, I recieved a rejection letter from GENTEX.  This makes two.

In days I will have completed applying to the auto industry and parts suppliers.  After that I will begin applying to appliance makers and the aerospace industry.  The problem of finding an internship is a complex beast.  The majority of people I know who get internships have done so through nepotism.  My resumes are unsolicited and are stored in a computer system, only to be retireved when some dude enters the right keyword.  Its much like the way I used to try and sell books to publishers.  Man, I can get rejection letters from anywhere.  The solution would be much more active networking; however, I am skeptical of much help added networking would provide.  I'm giving interviews.  I'm just not getting jobs.  Like my mommy said today, "The people that love you, hired you."

And, that's about it.

I couldn't get a book published, so I started a publishing company.  If I can't get an internship by June 1, I'm starting a manufacturing company.  SBA loans can't be that hard to get.

But, if all else fails...great lakes fishing is a $4 billion dollar a year industry.  I scouring google at the moment, trying to lear how to get on a lake superior white fish boat.  One or two season's there and, I'll go to alaska.

But, for now, I'm going to sit down and write some fiction.
