I called around today to the places listed on our rent bill. We need to contact the property manager and find out if it is the dryer, the furnace, and/or the stove that is/are gas. We need to know if we have access to the washer and dryer. If not then we need to get both the water and the gas pro-rated. We need to know how many hot water heaters there are. And finally, we need the names and phone numbers of the people living downstairs.
American Electric Power- There is a meter for the upstairs and a separate meter for the downstairs. If we have gas and electric heat (which I think we do) it will be a $130 deposit. He couldn't give us an estimate for the monthly price though.
Indiana-American Water Co.- There is no deposit, the entire house is on one bill, and the price per month is based on our usage. **We need to find out if we have access to the washer and dryer. If not, then we need to get the water bill pro-rated (in an agreement with the downstairs) because they will use much more water than us**
Comcast TV and Internet- For Basic Cable where we get channels like TNT, TBS, HGTV, etc. it is $50.48. For Internet service it is $42.95. We would need a cable box that would be $3 (not sure if that is per month or just a one time fee). The same could go for a router with a charge of $5, or we could buy our own router. There is no deposit but an instillation fee. It would be $59 if we set up the wireless internet ourselves. Also, the first month is due up front, at least 1/3 of it. Currently the house is split into two bills. It will probably have to remain that way since Comcast already knows. This cable seems kind of expensive so if anyone has any ideas...
Vectren Gas Company- There is no deposit if one of us passes the credit check. The whole house appears to be on one bill and she couldn't give me a very good estimate of price/month but she said $130. But that is probably averaged over the year. The winter will be far more expensive than the summer months. **Again, we need to know if we have access to the washer and dryer. If not, and the dryer is gas, then we need to get gas pro-rated, too.**
SBC- This would be for the internet only. There are a bunch of different packs available ranging from $13 to $30. But they each require a local phone plan, an $80 wireless gateway, a s&h fee, and taxes. So, it comes out similar to Comcast.
If you guys have any questions, call my cell. But, I'm at work this evening til 9:30 my time.
