Well, we’ve been in Salem. Oregon since Thursday for a Reigning Rex campout, as usual we’ve had a good time. But now almost everyone has left to go home. We are staying until tomorrow morning because we had some errands to run and we went to Costco.
After going to Costco and doing other shopping in the middle of the day we decided we were going to go out for dinner. As per usual we planned to go to The Olive Garden. As per usual there were lots of people standing around outside waiting to go in to eat. Needless to say we decided to go somewhere else.
We did not want to wind up at The Sizzler where we usually wind up. Bob suggested we go to a B-B-Q place that is close to The Grocery Outlet. Come to find out it was not a restaurant at all but a market that was doing smoking, etc. outside. Then he said well, how about Mexican food. Sounded good to me so we continued on down the street.
We found a nice looking restaurant that said they have the best homemade tortillas in town. Sounded good to us so we pulled into the parking lot, which was pretty crowded. We went inside and there were two very large tables with large parties. There was only two vacant booths in the room so they gave us one of the.
The person seating us asked if we’d like something to drink. Now what else do you drink in a Mexican restaurant but a margarita? We ordered one each and were not disappointed in them.
After looking at the menu and smelling the food go by as it was being delivered to the tables around us we decided to share an order of combination beef and chicken fajitas. Boy are we glad we did. They were absolutely delicious! After that we decided to share an order of sopapilla. That was delicious too with a cup of good coffee. WOW what a meal, I would definitely go back there again the next time we are in town. Oh yes, I did ask which state in Mexico the cooking was from. It is from Jalisco which did not surprise me a bit. We are seldom disappointed with Jaliscan food. See photos at; http://picasaweb.google.com/dmcowens
