Day before yesterday Bob & Cheryl, Bob & Freda and Bob & I went back up to the Indian Head Casino for lunch. Yes, there were three Bobs. After Bob and Freda heard us talking about the lunch the other day they wanted to go too.
We all had something a little different this time and it was all excellent food. Those that had the buffet lunch got to have the fry bread with fresh huckleberry jam, of course. I had chicken fried steak so I did not have that pleasure.
After Bob & Freda got up to go gamble a little while the rest of us were just sitting and chatting so the bus boy came around and asked if he could clear some of the dirty dishes away. He asked if there was anything else he could get us and I told him he could just bring that nice bowl of huckleberry jam over and sit it in front of me. He told me he couldn’t do that but he would get me a “to go” container with some in it. Low and behold he brought me a container the size of a cup of soup full of it. He said there was no charge so I gave him a tip. He seemed to be quite pleased that I would do that. Well, I was more than pleased to have my own container of jam.
Today Bob & Cheryl and Bob & I decided to go wine tasting in the area since we have never done that here. The first winery was just ok, nothing to write home about. I only bought some unique candy bars to take home; cinnamon & pepper in dark chocolate.
The next winery we went to was a few miles on down the road in a small town called Terrebonne, OR. Called Faith Hope & Charity Winery. It was about 10 miles off the road and not so easy to find if you weren’t paying attention. Wow what a gorgeous place it turned out to be. It lies right in the shadow of the Three Sisters mountain peaks called Faith, Hope & Charity, hence the name of the winery. Every wine we tasted there was excellent and we wound up buying 5 bottles between the two couples.
The winery is having a luau on Saturday of this week which is just before we are supposed to go to Redmond for the FMCA convention. Cheryl said it’s too bad they don’t have a place to camp. The owner heard her and told us that could be arranged. The only thing is they don’t have any electrical hook-ups and we don’t like to dry camp in hot weather with the spice girls. Bob tried to get spaces in a campground much closer than where we are and couldn’t. Oh well, it could have been a lot of fun. See photos at http://picasaweb.google.com/dmcowens The first few photos are of a burl sculpture in the entrance to the restaurant at the casino. It is quite unique.
