Not Dead (Exclamation Mark)
I never really got the whole posting regularly thing, but I might as well do something in case people think I'm dead.
So, living near Athenry with Mary and Matthew (now almost 3). Things are peaceful, with lots of fresh air and no scumbags. The whole quiet family life thing. Planning to move into town proper over the summer, to gain access to creche and schools (do I sound like an old man or what?).
Work is at Nortel in Galway. I'm there about 9 months now, and have kinda settled in. I'm still in the nerd club (I assure you it is a small and lonely club, even in a software development shop). I do programming and related stuff for computer/telephony integration software. It's a lot less boring than it sounds, but the good (and interestingly bad) stuff is probably proprietary and Nortel is big enough to have a legal department that could find me and steal my lunch money.
Commuting is by car. I hate all cars. There is a saga to go with this, but I'm not going to type it out, because. At least the traffic isn't too bad, so long as I start at 8 and not 9.
Major obsession of the moment is the Dark Tower series, which I finally started into, after it was recommended to me a mere 2 or 3 years ago. Excellent stuff, and now patiently waiting for Amazon to deliver the final installments.
