All forms of transport are bad in different ways.
Car - Travelling by car is ok. It gets you places fast, except when it doesn't. Permits long distance travel. You're dry, can carry passengers and luggage, and set your own schedule. You need somewhere to park your car everywhere you go, you need to look out for lunatic road users (especially people with motorbikes, SUVs or trucks). Plus it's really expensive, and that even before the car breaks down. D
Cycle - Cycling is ok. It's plenty faster than walking, albiet relatively short range. Home to work is comfortable, but onward to DCU is a bit of a stretch. It's not too inconvenient to park, though there is the risk of theft or vandalism. A surprising amount of luggage can be carried with effort, but no passengers. Very susceptible to the elements - wind and rain drastically increase travel time and effort. Also susceptible to people with motorbikes, SUVs, trucks or shiny new cars trying to drive over you. B+
Foot - The ultimate in convenience for short journeys - no parking or preparation, no need to perform additional maintenance, etc, etc. Very slow, but otherwise has similar characteristics to cycling. More open to group travel, provided all passengers can walk or come with pushchair devices. My favourite feature - shoes do not require petrol, servicing by qualified and overpriced mechanics, or protection against theft. B
Bus - Hahahahaha. Sorry. Busses are kinda like cars except they show up where you aren't, about once an hour, unless they are late or break down. And the cost of travel is more predictable and paid in easy-to-handle amounts per journey. Otherwise they are terrible. It is more or less impossible for me to commute by bus, since the travel time by bus exceeds that of walking (a 5 mile distance). F
Train - Well, trains have low expectations anyway - you know in advance you have to go to them, and you only bother for long journeys for which you have no alternative. They are also surprisingly expensive. D-
I could go on. The short version is that all forms of transport are inferior to a balanced combination of cycling and walking, unless you need to transport passengers (or lots of stuff), or you need to travel long distances. Sadly I need to do both of these things periodically, and this annoys me, since my car is currently dying.
