End of the season?

::Sigh:: I can't belive another season of BC football is over...well, at least in terms of home games. It is crazy to think that one year ago I was performing on DT for the last time. One year ago I first spoke to Ben. One year ago I got covered in champagne. One year.

This was an amazing season, not just in terms of the team's record. It was the first time I could tailgate, first trip to the Mods on GameDay, first Game morning where I didn't need to be at Conte 4 hours before kick-off, first Alumni hot chocolate and hot dog, first beer with the girls, first rainy game where I could sit inside, first 06 DT reunion as Superfans. Granted I still have not been thrown in the air, but c'mon, it was only the first season! I have to say that my experience as an alum, especially being around here for the first year, has been wonderful. Band was a great experience, a one-of-a-kind experience, but now I am lucky enough to experience what all the other Superfans had for four years. I got the best of both worlds.

Yesterday's final home game of the season could not have been better. It was perfect fall weather, and Al and Sarah came up for the game. We tailgated before the game and went out to dinner at PF Changs afterwards. It was soooo good to reminisce with them and definitely brought me back to the college days. Ben and I saw the band and hung out with some other bandos. At the end of the game the band played "Bohemian Rhapsody" from last year's Queen show, the last band show I ever performed on the field. We watched the senior traditions at the end and remembered that it had only been a year since that was us (it seemed like yesterday, yet also like ages ago).

I think yesterday was another realization of being "old". The '04 band alums were at the game and invited Ben and I to watch halftime on the 50 yard line with them, followed by the infamous "3rd quarter sausage" that Ben has been waiting 4 years for. We finished off the second half standing with the band alums and staff in front of the band (GREAT VIEW by the way) dancing to the band music. I don't think Ben ever thought he would be doing that. Yeah, it made me miss band a little, but it also made me realize that I am now the type of person I once looked up to as an underclassmen: an iconic band alum. I commented that we were "hanging out with the big kids," when in reality we now ARE the "big kids."

Additionally scary but exciting: an 04 band alum and friend got engaged at the game yesterday, to another 04 band alum. So there we were watching halftime: the recently engaged 2004 band couple, the 2005 band couple that got engaged over the summer, and Ben and I also known as the 2006 band couple. Ben just looked at me and said, "No pressure on us or anything!" But yeah, perhaps foreshadowing? Who knows but it certainly was funny to think about.

I can't wait for next season. I'm going to need to go to a few basketball and hockey games to hold me over, because if not I won't have an excuse to visit BC for awhile. I can't go that long without seeing my alma mater!
