OHHHHHHHHHHHH man. Playing at the Firefly was AMAZING tonight. Our set went really well, then people got to sit in with the PKO! I played a couple of solos and it was just an absolute BLAST. On one of them, Paul Keller made me keep playing and playing and playing and had the band get really quiet, then eventually drop out except rhythm section and clap, then come back in and get louder and louder...oh man. SUCH a great time. It was a good experience for us, too. Plus, I got to play with ANDREW BISHOP. It doesn't get much bette rthan that. :)
Speaking of Bish, he told me that one of my solos from our set was "smokin'" tonight, and later said "nice, Katherine" and shook my hand in regard to the solo I mentioned int he above paragraph. Compliments from Andrew Bishop are where it's at. For sure.
The van rides there and back were absolutely hilarious. I love the jazz band group dynamic. It's amazing.
I'm tired as all heck, but I'm having a blast. When I look back in ten years, I'm not gonna be like "man, I was so tired after that weekend." I'm goung to remember "Dude, I spent a weekend gigging, having fun and staying up till all hours of teh night with the jazz band. Then when I got back I was super tired, but it was all worth it." I think some people would do well to remember that. These are the only four years for the rest of our lives that are going to be like this where we have time/ability to do stuff like this. We shoudl all be taking advantage of it. Now, if you would have asked me abut this last year, I would have cried at the thought of going out and not doing homework or soething productive. Now the way I figure it is that I should play as hard as I work.
Yesssss...tomorrow is tuesday. Taht means YOGA! :) Then there's no jazz band (we're taking a day off) so I'm heading back to bed for sure till my class at 1. Tomrrow is gonna be a damn good day. I've decided.
