(no subject)
Formal recruitment is a week away! I'm so excited! I can't wait! I'm so glad I'm chant leader. It's a last leading and teaching the cheers! I can't wait to get new sisters of course, too! Woohoo! :)
In other news, I'm learning to play the oboe. I sound like a duck. A very flat pitched duck. It's really fun, though.
Flute has been a bit frustrating for me lately because I'm in the "refining" stage of my pieces, and that's just annoying. I have to be super picky, and sometimes it's just...well, frustrating. Oh well. Also, my hand has been hurting an inordinate amount lately with all the practice time I'm putting in. I'm trying to take it easier, but it's kind of hard for me to do becasue I want to play really well at my recital. I actually broke down in my lesson the other day. Poor Tess...haha. She was really nice about it, though and she's working with me to help get the problem fixed. She's going to take me to dinner with her physical therapist friend in East Lansing sometime soon. She's so great. I'm so lucky to have her. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Tess Miller is one of the best (if not the best) lessons teachers ever. You have to work hard or she calls you out, she tells you exactly what you need to do, you can practice for hours on something and then in your lesson she'll say two words how to do it differently and then it's 100% better than the hours you put into it, she genuinely cares about all her students, is willing to put in a ton of extra time. You also have to work really hard and accomplish quite a bit to get a compliment from her, which may sound like a bad thing but is actually a very cool thing. When Tess gives you a compliment, you KNOW it's worth something. Plus, it makes me want to work harder because I want so badly for her to think I'm good. In conclusion, I love Tess. She even gave me a hug today!
