and why nobody ever asks

everyone's on their way
to some big infatuation
everyone's on their way
to some big bombastic
congratulation.

then I saw the little magpie
flitting about
before being crushed
by a thousand peach blossoms.

I saw the furtive finch
take down his golden coat
and wrap it around
a shivering child.
