So, with the whole new soundboarded bootleg thing going on, I've found myself listening to Tori a lot. (duh).

I think that most of the ADP songs are actually pretty good live, if not really good. I'm not real sure I gave the album much of a chance in the first place, but I didn't like most of what I heard. I think maybe "in context" of the persona in a live setting the songs get a little better. Or at least when they're just Tori and the band and not a lot of over production to get on Top40 Adult Contemporary Radio... they're better songs.

Of the 4 shows i've heard so far, I've gotta say that the first Boston show was probably my favorite so far. I will admit, I have not listened to a single boot of the euro/austrailian tour. I just haven't, I didn't really care. None of them were really awesome quality, and I just didn't like the new album, etc etc. These soundboards though, they do the trick. And how.

I actually really like Code Red, even though it's this tour's "we're playing it at the end of every main set and you're going to get sick of it" song. The improvs are all really interesting so far. Cruel from Boston is quite possibly the exact thing that was missing the entire 2005 tour. I never felt that Tori was anywhere close AT ALL to being that worked up in a song. I know 2.5 million people said that "oh, when it's just Tori it's so much more intense and special" but I got "kinda boring and not nearly as entertaining" out of most of the shows we saw. It was complete contrast to what I saw in the hojillion shows I saw in 2003 with the band and I was a little disappointed. (plus, again, didn't dig Beekeeper nearly as much as the old stuff). I think this time there's no way to be disappointed and I'm almost only disappointed that I won't be able to see more shows. (but, the dates didn't really work out for going anywhere and 3 shows without having to do anything but get on BART works for me).
