I wore a short skirt today. It was too hot to be wearing something with a crotch. Everything was going fine except that I don't sit like a lady, which can be problematic. Good thing the computers face the wall.
The weekend began thursday. Sonal is back from Lake Louise and we had a lovely lunch at Cornerstone. At this point I thought she was only in town for the week. As we walked towards the Square with our arms linked, bryn calls and says he'll be in the area. What luck, so will Nancy and Dave. The four of us dined at Einsteins (the parents were impressed with the food), but the most fantastic part of the night was about to come.
We head to the Albion so that Nancy and Dave can meet Sunshine, my secret roommate. He passed the test, unlike my parents who proceeded to order Daiquiris and frangelica at a bar that mainly sells beer. No worries, Bryn and I step up and order a couple pitchers. Then comes the debates about why young people today choose to live with their partners instead of 'just getting married'.....so funny. The next day a mother, father and daughter walked around downtown, shopping for fancy tea cups and things of that sort. We all have a splendid time.
Saturday was spent with Rebecca, Sonal (who joyfully tells that she's not going back to Alberta), Kate and JD (who were both in town for a visit). We check out the Festival Italiano, typical carnival with rides, overpriced food/booze and too many children. After deciding that $5 for a can of beer was waaay too expensive, we discover the glory that is purchasing an entire bottle of vino. The time is now 4pm, last meal was the blue berry banana pancakes I made at breakfast. As the sweltering sun beat down on us, we decide to go balls to the wall and get not one, but TWO litres to share between the five of us. Easy to say that we got buzzed pretty quickly, especially Sonal with her thinned out, high altitude blood.
Sunday night was the only night Andrew had off all week so we wanted to do something special. We watched 4 episodes of The First 48 and Kung Fu Hustle (greatest movie ever created). I get him liquored up, we meet up with Dan and head towards the Underground for some hip hop-pity goodness and cheap beer. Sunshine was all in a huff because 6 backwards hat-wearing, Canadian olympiad jock guys decided to take off their shirts on the dance floor. "If that guy gets laid..." and the comments begin. Despite this little tiff, Sunshine enjoyed his night off....by puking in the toilet.
Nathan Core was in guelph this evening for one night only before he leaves for Hong Kong in a couple of weeks, so at Shepperd's we celebrated by playing some beer pong and watching Entourage. I miss him already.
Jeremy Fisher is amazing. Check out his Goodbye Blue Monday album. A mix of the Violent Femmes, Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel. Produced by Hawksley Workman...so it's obviously good.
