Post with a Purpose!

Soo...today is Super Bowl Sunday and I don't think I've ever missed the Super Bowl. Yes, I love football and all that good stuff but I really enjoy being with my family or friends to watch the game. And all the American snacks...chips and salsa, CHEESE, bologna, shrimp, veggies and dip, desserts!!!! Okay, I can't lie...this was the usual menu for the Baker household, but nevertheless, it's the American food and tradition I miss. And of course, the good, comfortable company. Since I've been here, I've been searching for places to watch the superbowl. In case I haven't mentioned, I haven't watched television (aside from 2 movies at the cinema) since I've arrived in England. I obviously don't have a television and no one seems to have one around here. I also heard that even those who do have televisions can only get 4 or so channels. I read in the newspaper that the SuperBowl is attempting to go international so there is a station in England (Norwich) that will play the SuperBowl but it's not one of their main stations, of course. BESIDES ALL THAT, NO ONE HERE WOULD WANT TO WATCH THE SUPERBOWL! In the first week, I hung out with a group of Americans that may have enjoyed watching it but I have since lost contact with them, as I have made friends in my flat instead. I heard that the 'American Football' club on campus is hosting a super bowl party at the Union Pub but I haven't been able to find any details on-line or on campus. I did just discover a pub in town that's playing the superbowl, however. The pub has been granted permission to stay open 'til around 4:30 AM to show the game. But most of my friends here wouldn't care to watch 3+ hours of football and I wouldn't even want to watch the game with people who don't care. So my dilemna is this--I want/need to watch this game and no just because of the football but because I will feel too uncomfortably far from home if I don't. However, watching the game could mean that I must be brave enough to enter a pub full of people I don't know AND be responsible enough to catch the bus back to campus around 4 in the morning, alone. Even though I've searched for information about the possibility of the Union pub on campus playing the game, I'm more attracted to experiencing the SuperBowl in a true, English Pub.

SO WHAT DO I DO?! I'm obviously extremely stressed out over this all...Help a girl out. At the very least, one of you could fly me home!!! :)
