Panic and chaos were never the best situations to arrive in.

When Severus grabbed for his hand, the world around Remus seemed to shatter into confusion as he was Apparated to the site of the attack. Apparation this close to the Full was always more disorientating because of his changing senses. In this case, that disorientation probably saved him from being hit with his lover's curse!

Being the Head of the Brash House of Gryffindor, Severus' fears that Remus would do something rash were entirely well-founded. And he had every intention of doing so -- without using a wand that would trigger the collar around his throat to alert the damned Ministry of his rather murderous intents. The air was thick with the smell of blood and fear, edging Remus' own inner wolf toward the fore.

But it took a second to clear his mind enough to attack -- just long enough for Severus' curse to fly past him, striking Greyback across the legs, where he struggled on the ground. Unfortunately, despite the sudden gushing of blood, the spell also sliced through the bindings around Greyback's ankles, freeing him.

Remus tensed, ready to spring at the slightest move from Greyback, but the older werewolf had apparently decided the odds had suddenly fallen out of his favor. With a low growl -- "Be seeing ya!" -- he vanished, leaving Remus to spring uselessly toward empty space, a frustrated growl of his own rumbling through his chest as he turned to survey the damage.

"Dean! Stop!"

Trusting that Severus was best equipped to deal with an enraged Lucius Malfoy at that moment, Remus sought out Draco, intent on investigating the extent of the young man's injuries beyond what he could already tell from the putrid stench of carnage in the air. He spotted the surprisingly still pure shock of pale blonde hair just as Dean was moving to deal with the steady flow of blood running from out the pale boy's torn body.

In all truth, it was probably safe enough for Dean to touch, but in the aftermath of adrenaline and fear, Remus' own paranoias about lycanthropic infection rose to the fore. Rushing forward, he knelt alongside Dean and moved to take the bloody cloth from Dean.

"Let me," he said more gently, not wanting to startle or frighten Draco any more than the young man likely already was. "It'll be safer if I'm the only one to touch the blood, just in case. I'm already infected. We can take him to Ginny. He'll need a trained healer to close these wounds."

His father. He felt his father's hand on his head, heard his voice. Father. The inner strength that had been holding him tightly to consciousness began to fade He was safe. His father was here.

A voice he knew, but couldn't place, was then whispering in his ear, telling him to stay. Snape and Lupin were there. He was safe. They would help him. He'd done it. he'd survived long enough.

He groaned as Dean began to work on him, fresh pain radiating from the wounds. Grunting loudly, he tried to curl tighter, wanting nothing more than to be home, safe and for this never to have happened.

Lupin came to him and started tending him. The werewolf's hands were far more experienced and Draco felt himself falling into the trust he'd shown while being protected by the Order. He started to fade, the adrenaline that had kept him conscious now fading from his system.

In his blinding haze, he thought he heard them talking, but could no longer make out the words.

He hadn't been expecting Severus' blow, and as almost all of the other man's weight smashed into his shoulder, he staggered slightly, the rest of the killing curse unspoken.

Lucius gave a shout of fury, unable to understand why Severus would stop him killing the disgusting creature. He'd hurt Draco!

He watched Severus' curse fly, lifting his own wand. Crucio was the only word to fill his mind. He was going to make Greyback wish he was dead. He was going to torture him until he thought he could endure no more, then push his wand into Greyback's eyes until he felt the soft push of eyeball into brain.

His lips formed the first syllable of the course, but Severus' curse hit and Greyback was freed.

He was gone! With a near roar of impotent anger, Lucius threw hexes at the trees, a pointless endeavour, but the splintering of the tree trunks eased the ebb of magic longing to flow through his wand.

Lucius dropped his wand, determined to return to Draco. He hadn't heard Lupin's words about not touching him, but he wouldn't have cared if he had. In a calm situation Lucius would have agreed that Lupin was far better equipped to care for his son, but as it stood he just wanted to hold him. To feel his heart beating.

"Draco," Lucius said, dropping on his knees opposite Lupin.

There was blood everywhere, and once Lucius had reached out to Draco his hands were covered in it too. He pushed back a few threads of pale blond hair from Draco's face, it's tips edged in blood.

Lucius had no idea how to fix this. But it must be fixable.

He knew that it was best not to move Draco, but instinctvely wanted to hold his son.

"Where can we take him?" Lucius asked Remus Lupin. He didn't know if St Mungos could deal with this.

He didn't let himself think about what might happen when Draco woke up, all he cared about for now was that his son was alive.

Lucius pulled off his jacket and dropped it to the ground.

Draco wasn't getting any better laying here. He rubbed his own face, smearing grubby streaks of blood across his pale skin.

"Son of a bitch!" Severus' frustrated shout added voice to that of Remus and Lucius as his spell shot much too far from the mark and enabled Greyback to escape.

There was no time to give chase, now, no matter how desperately he wanted to follow the magical signature of the monster's Apparation while it was fresh. He fell to his own knees beside Draco, heedless of Remus' warnings. Even had his mind been thinking of self-preservation, fear of cross-contamination from Draco's wounds would not have stopped him.

"We're here, Draco," he said, adding his voice again to that of Lucius. He immediately dug into the satchel he carried and retrieved a Blood Replenishing draught.

"Don't move him yet," he cautioned, waving his wand over the body. Healer he was not, but he could manage basic diagnostic charms well enough. The way Greyback had been restraining Draco - it was necessary to ensure there was no spinal damage before they could risk any other movement.

He breathed easier when everything vital seemed intact, though there was definite internal bleeding and bruising beyond that which they could see and far beyond any basic healing capacity he possessed.

"No spinal damage," he said. He met Remus' eyes, silently begging for permission and understanding. They had no choice. "Remus - help me raise his head so I can give him this potion. He's lost a lot of blood. I don't want to risk closing the wounds yet. We'll have to treat him at the clinic. It's closest and will have the supplies we need for these wounds."

Which meant the 'extremely secret' location was becoming less so by the minute.

"Mr Thomas, if you would be so good as to use a heavy Obscurment Charm when we begin to move. Remus will be able to guide us, but it will prevent us from being seen or recognised."

It would also prevent Thomas and Lucius from knowing precisely where they were going. Without Remus' heightened senses to guide them, the Charm would be enough to prevent them being able to find the clinic themselves.

It would have to be enough. St. Mungo's would never be sufficiently prepared to deal with these sorts of injuries.

"Drink, Draco," he encouraged softly as he held the small vial to the parched lips of the barely conscious young man. "Swallow. It is Severus - the potion will help restore your strength. You are safe now."

Whether Draco would hear or understand was an open question. Whether he would agree to drink anything from Severus' hand in his distorted state of consciousness, considering other times when Severus had administered Healing droughts only to strengthen the boy to face his next bout of torture, even less certain.

"We have a secure location, Lucius. And a highly trained Healer there, waiting for us. One with experience in these sorts of injuries."

Or at least, he hoped Ginevra was already there and preparing!

"The location must remain utterly confidential." He included Mr Thomas in this firm injunction. "If necessary, our Healer can and will Oblivate you of the sensitive information. But it is close and ideally supplied. We must get him there as quickly as possible."

While initially startled by Lupin's shout, Dean understood his meaning after a moment, and moved back to let his former professor deal with the bleeding, injured Draco. Dean knew he could not just leave, nor was he about to- as much as he had disliked Draco Malfoy for all these years, Dean found himself to be rather concerned about him at the moment. Also, he was a witness to this attack- he wasn't sure if Aurors would be called in at the moment, but when they were, he would of course have to give a statement.

When Snape and Malfoy joined the group Dean stepped further back, letting the Professor and Malfoy Sr. get closer to Draco. He wasn't actually sure that either of them were aware of his presence, at least until Snape addressed him.

Though he was thoroughly confused at the mention of a 'clinic', Dean nodded at Snape's directions. It didn't take a Healer to realize that Draco would benefit from treatment sooner rather than later, and a clinic that was close by would surely be better than trying to transport him to St. Mungo's.

"Whenever you're ready, Professor," Dean replied, waiting for further instructions.

Remus was afraid he wasn't going to be able to stop the bleeding on his own. He was capable enough to deal with most injuries, even the cursed wounds of werewolves, after having been forced to learn the basics by necessity. But, the slashes and bites covering the young man's back and legs were deep and the towels Dean had conjured barely adequate to the job.

They needed Ginny's help.

As first Malfoy and then Severus dropped to their knees, Remus bit back the barking order that wanted to rise. There wasn't any time to argue with them. Draco needed to be the priority. But he couldn't help the sharp look he cast Severus as the other man reached for the pale body between them.

And he did comment when Malfoy rubbed a bloody hand across his face.

"Be careful, Mr. Malfoy. The wounds will be cursed and the blood may already be tainted." As he spoke, he nodded in agreement to both the silent plea and the directive, Remus gently lifted Draco's head, supporting it carefully while Severus administered the potion. "As long as there are no cuts on your hands, you should be okay, although it's risky. But, you'd be better to keep it away from eyes and mouth."

He had been surprised when Malfoy directed his inquiry to him specifically, but decided he shouldn't be. Malfoy knew Remus was a werewolf and most likely was looking to him as the 'expert' in this situation. Still, all things considered, it was surprising, yet again, to realize Lucius Malfoy was able to deal with him civilly even under such stressful circumstances.

Out of curtesy, he offered his own words to Malfoy rather than speaking to the group at large.

"St. Mungo's will treat him, mostly because he's a Malfoy, but not well. There are other options though. As Severus said, we have a safe location where he will get care from someone with experience in dealing with these sorts of injuries."

Pressing one of the makeshift flannels to the wounds along Draco's leg, he could not suppress a shudder at the twisted feel to the muscles and tendons beneath his hands.

"Also, Madame Pomfrey is nearby at Hogwarts. She has experience with these sorts of injuries as well and can be summoned quickly if more assistance is needed." The cloth in his hands blossomed crimson and Remus bit his lip in consternation. "Severus, you'll need to use a levitation charm. I don't want to jostle him by picking him up and I think it's best if I keep a bit of pressure on these slashes as we go. Mr. Malfoy, if you can conjure a clean cloth and press it to the wounds at his wrist, we should be able to keep him stable enough to get him to help."

Draco instinctively moved towards his father's touch, though he couldn't move very far, murmuring. Father, please...don't...don't leave me... He groaned as his body screamed again, shuddering.

He couldn't move. Everything hurt terribly, nerves raw, wounds dirty. His mind faded somewhat, not quite in and out, but there were moments that he didn't feel as much pain. The problem was, he couldn't hear either, and he wanted to hear. He needed to know his father was there. That Severus was near.

Then Severus was there, speaking to him. He felt his head lifted and whimpered, opening his mouth obediently. Severus...help me...please...I...will do anything...just help me.

He heard them talking again, but it had taken all his strength to swallow the potion. He moaned again, the sound hardly more than a simple exhale passing through strained vocal chords.

Still, there was something he wanted to say, needed to. He had to tell them, had to reach out. He couldn't move though and he understood their voices carried panic. He had held on and they had come. They came to him. He was safe. He was with them and he knew they would heal him.

"Father...Severus....you...made it..." he managed before his eyes drooped, closing softly.

Lucius looked at his hand, Draco's blood rapidly drying into his lined palm. Tainted, the word stuck hard in his throat. His gaze froze on Lupin as the implications of cursed wounds fell heavily on him.

He looked down at his son as Severus poured the potion between his lips.

If only he had given Greyback the money he had asked for. It was just money. No money was worth this. Lucius would sign over every scrap of gold under his name in a moment if he could take back the pain Draco was surely feeling.

I've failed you again, he thought, just as Draco spoke in broken words.

He felt his eyes prickle with tears, and swallowed hard.

Lucius didn't give a shit about Severus' secret location. He wanted to make Draco better, not expose whatever it was werewolves did on their time off.

"I need to let Narcissa know," he said in a dry voice. He had no idea where to tell her to meet them.

Short-temper made worse by the extreme duress of the situation, Severus rolled his eyes at Remus' precautions.

"There is no evidence of body-fluid transmission of the curse, Remus," he contradicted, even as he conjured a stretcher to appear under Draco.

Still, if the curse could be spread by contact with body fluid - even blood, he or Stella Sinistra would have shown symptoms long ago.

"There are no other options," he insisted, snapping out the words in his own distress. "Poppy hasn't the supplies and St. Mungo's is staffed with idiots. Apply enough pressure to stem the flow of blood, but do not try to stop it completely. The blood replenishing draught will suffice. We will have more success healing wounds that have not begun to close."

In theory, at least. The potions and spells and poultices he and Ginevra had developed to aid the werewolf-induced scars of June, Peregrin Derrick, Caleb Moore, Anne Shepherd and even Bill Weasley would not be put to the truest test. The theory being that if one could improve injuries that were, in some cases, many years old, how much better success would one have if one could treat them properly when fresh.

Severus fervently prayed there was enough foundation to that theory, now.

He had no idea which of the bloody wounds were a result of human fingernails turned to wolfish claws and which were caused by the monster actually biting Draco. Severus had a hunch that the claw-wounds would be less 'tainted' than the bites and therefore ought to respond better to treatment, but he had very little evidence to support that educated guess. Only time would tell.

He levitated the stretcher gently, standing on the opposite side of it to Lucius. The point about the boy's mother could not be ignored. The woman would surely cut off all contact between Severus and her son if she were excluded from something this urgent. Yet every moment counted and there was no time to teach Lucius the Patronus-communication method.

Flicking his wand again, irritation at the delay obvious in every movement, his Patronus appeared.

"Go to Narcissa Malfoy. Message: Draco has been injured. He is being treated in a secure location. Lucius will come to you and bring you to him at the earliest possible opportunity. Remain home and allow no one to enter the Manor."

The Phoenix took flight as soon as he finished speaking. "That will have to suffice for now.

"Mr Thomas, the Obscurement Charm now. Remus, guide us." Then, as an after-thought, as though suddenly realising how snappish he'd been with his lover, he added, "Please."

Stepping a bit closer to the group huddled around the levitating stretcher, Dean cast the Obscurement Charm. Per Snape's instructions he made it as strong as he possibly could, the area around them growing fuzzy and faint as the charm took effect.

As they moved, Dean kept his focus on keeping up the strength of the charm. He understood Snape's desire for secrecy- after all that had happened with Mandy, Dean was well aware of the repercussions of dealing with werewolves. From what Snape had said, the clinic they were heading towards had experience in dealing with werewolf injuries- Dean had heard of no such place in his research into the legal side of werewolf legislation, so knew that whatever it was had to be extremely well hidden, indeed.

He couldn't help it, however, when his thoughts flashed to Ginny Weasley. She was a healer, after all, and had been present on the night of Mandy's disappearance. Whether that was just a coincidence Dean was not sure, but found himself wondering if she could be responsible for a secret clinic for werewolves. It would not surprise him in the least if she was, but he kept his idea to himself for the moment, following Lupin's lead through the streets of Hogsmeade.

Remus clenched his jaw tightly, biting at the inside of his cheek to keep from snapping right back at his lover. The Full Moon was only days away, which brought his own aggressive nature out. Being surrounded by frayed nerves, the heavy scent of blood, and sharing his own frustrations at losing Greyback again.

He would not take that out on Severus. He knew Severus' reaction in any emotionally stressful situation was to get angry.

But he hated being dismissed so cavalierly in front of Lucius Malfoy.

As Dean held the spell that concealed them from view, Remus took point, keeping enough pressure on what were obvious (to him, since his sensitive nose could tell which wounds bore the scent of Greyback's saliva) claw marks along the back of Draco's leg. The village was beginning to quiet for the coming evening and few people were out and about the street, thankfully. The few they might have encountered were easily skirted around with the warning the sound of their voices gave.

Remus knew the streets of Hogsmeade as well as he'd ever known the mountains of Lewis and was able to steer them to the clinic with little trouble. Holding one hand over Draco's wounds still, he pushed open the door to let them all in and signaled Dean to drop the charm as the last of them came through the door, already calling "Ginny!" to announce their arrival and hoping she was already there.

Draco whimpered as they moved him, despite the smoothness of the ride. Shock was taking over. He knew he was shaking, as if he weren't the one doing it. He knew they were pushing on his wounds, and he alternated being able to feel the pain and numbness. He wasn't sure which he preferred.

He heard them talking, and wondered who it was they were talking about. He thought he might have heard Narcissa, which meant mother. yes, that was mother. He knew that. So he wasn't all lost. And Severus was there. Severus would know what to do. And his father. His father was strong, proud. He could draw strength from him.

That his thought processes were so regressed as to be child-like, he didn't realize. He didn't understand that he was barely holding onto consciousness, and that life wasn't that much further a choice. That he could still die under their watch, their treatment, he didn't consider. In his childhood, his father and Severus could fix anything. They could fix him.

It was the image of laughing, showing them a drawing he'd made, his father, Severus and his mother, that came to his mind before he heard them shout again, calling to...Ginny? Wait...he knew a Ginny...red hair...Weasley...why?

That she was a healer took a bit longer to register, but the healer title is what stuck. They had gotten him to a healer. They had gotten him help. Yet again, his father and Severus saved him.

Ginny had been enjoying her day off from the clinic and St. Mungo’s by relaxing on the couch in the flat her and the twins shared. The red head had just gotten to the climax of the current book she was reading when a silver phoenix appeared and Snape’s voice sounded out in the room. Ginny only had to listen to ‘There has been an attack. Greyback.’ Before the tiny red head was up off of the couch, her book forgotten, as she grabbed her always ready medical beg and made her way to her clinic.

Ginny was at the clinic without incident and started to set up the treatment lab for max occupants not knowing how many people were hurt. Ginny had just finished getting the lab ready when she heard people coming down the tunnel and Remus’ familiar voice calling out her name.

“In here!” Ginny called back from the treatment lab before opening the door to spot the overflow of males that had appeared in her room. Ginny then caught the sight of Draco and gasped softly, “oh…” At the sight of Draco’s blood and injuries the medic in Ginny kicked in and she quickly snapped out of her shock. “In here. Quickly. Everything is set up.” Ginny spotted Lucius Malfoy standing close to Draco which made her pause for only a few moments as she turned to Remus and Severus. “I will need both of your help during this. Everyone else has to stay out here unless you are injured.” Ginny gave both Dean and Lucius a serious look giving the impression that she meant business. Without any other words Ginny headed back into the lab heading straight for the sink to clean her hands and arms.

Lucius had done as he was asked and conjoured a clean cloth, pressing it to Draco's steadily bleeding wrists as they moved.

He had no idea where they were heading, but Lupin and Severus seemed to know. Uncomfortable as it was, being taken to a location he was unaware of, he forced himself to dampen his inbuilt paranoia and accepted that wherever it was they were going, it would be best for Draco.

With some surprise Lucius realised that it was a Weasley who had come to aid his son. He recalled that she was a healer, but didn't she work for St Mungos? Hadn't Severus said that they would not be able to help? Yet Severus and Lupin had requested her, and it seemed natural to them to put Draco into her care.

He glared as the girl suggested he should leave. He didn't want to leave, he wanted to stay with Draco. Helpless as he was, he wanted to be near his son.

"I'm not leaving," he said stubbornly.
